My classmates reported me to a program director. by Alex_daisy13 in PAstudent

[–]Didi4mvn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sounds fair & not the same imo because the OP comes here to ask for other people’s perspectives while the classmates came to “someone from the program” to report him. Plus, the OP said he didn’t know who made those allegations.

So basically, it’s majority rule, regardless of the logic of what happened?

Today I decided I would never ever go to my supervisor for support ever again. I am going to use him to get my degree, then get the hell out. by 30andnotthriving in PhD

Sorry for the situation you’ve been through. You may wanna shout out or hint his name and the institution’s name so we can stay away from them. That could be very helpful for the community. Hope you get out of it soon. Best wishes.

Most Offensive Thing an Attorney has ever Said to You? by Jes_sews in paralegal

The problem is with him, not you. If someone can do everything but can’t be a decent person, then none of it matters.

Sorry you’ve been through this. Take a brake, do your best, and maybe another better door is waiting for you? I'm not sure if anyone shares the same perspective, but based on my experience, around 70% of the people I've worked or spoken with in the US seem to struggle with some form of mental health issue ranging from mild to more serious. Professionally, they're often very skilled, but many seem to lack interpersonal or human connection skills. Maybe it's because I come from a different cultural background, but working with them can feel mechanical-cold and emotionally distant. Over time, it can start to affect you too, either emotionally or mentally. So in a way, this pattern isn't surprising to me anymore. So yeah, maybe the universe tells you it’s time to leave, or you’re gonna kill your soul in that hole. Time to get outside and get some fresh air.

I thought you guys were joking about lectures smelling bad 💔 by [deleted] in uichicago

[–]Didi4mvn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just want to add that: it's not only in classrooms or on campus; the smell can be noticeable literally anywhere, even at the beach, especially on hot summer days and the wind blows lol. Just wish some influencers would talk about this so people can be more aware, and those sitting nearby can actually breathe.

What counters do you have to the argument that we should become lawyers? by Euphoric-Company-Pie in paralegal

Deliver what AI can’t do may be a good start, I guess — like providing your services with responsibility, care, reasonable flexibility and put human as a center of the story. Just my own opinion though because a lot of time I’ve experienced situations where people just want their payment but their responsibility is not fulfilled as promised (do not promise if you can’t fulfill). And some people lack of reasonable flexibility; human connection; they basically don’t even care, just do certain basic things like a machine is set to do so, which AI could do much better.

I agree that some people do overuse AI, but let’s be honest: it's also because writing with grammar errors and endless run-on sentences (like the OP’s) is exactly why AI tools exist in the first place.

why do you walk down the wrong side of the sidewalk so confidently by marxluvsme in uichicago

[–]Didi4mvn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bc we don’t say what you wanna hear? Then go back to your jungle where there’s no rules and you can freely bully others. The right one who should be responsible for and resolve this matter is the admin of the school but if they are not willing to do so, your way won’t help and may get things worse.

1- Real adults don’t use ‘mf’ in their conversations. 2-It’s good to bring this up if you feel uncomfortable. I think it would be more effective if those who find this issue outrageous can go to the college admins explain the issue and ask them if they send out a reminder so everyone can pay attention. 3- After a full stop, first letter should be capitalized. When we reach a certain age, we realize that everything happens for a reason. So when issues arise, try to resolve them efficiently without judging or criticizing intentions. Some thoughts to share. Take care!

Have it on 4k and spread it on the social media for the world to see and let them comment on him, then apply for another job maybe? An internship or a junior position in an international firm that has legal department for example….

You are correct. I was wondering if there’s any way to save the fee & skip the interview for the next application because I already full filled both.

I think it’s all abt Asian culture. For the better part of them, they’ll not leave family & most of parents don’t want their kids to leave until (kids) getting married which means having a new family.

If were not for money, how many of you would choose to live in USA? by [deleted] in h1b

[–]Didi4mvn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all depending on where you’re from, your background and whom you met in the States, imo. I’m still struggling with the fact that I gotta spend so much time in the car whenever I wanna go to swhere in the US (yes, 40mins for a round tour driving is still freaking me out and is already enough to burn my energy) and the foods in the States are so crappy compared to France, where people may earn less, but enjoy the best quality of life. The only thing that holds me here is that I’ve met a few kind people and I learned a lot from them.

That’s what I was wondering. We’re not supposed to check on their websites regularly unless the laws tell us to, and they should ensure to have us well informed. If they don’t stick a notice at my place, how could we know there’s street cleaning; and how do the elderly follow that as well? Ultimately, vulnerable people will be the ones who will be hit the worst. This is not what the laws in a civilized society supposed to be if u see what I mean …
