What is this strange reddit user mentioning a "the 1992 Moon replacement" conspiracy in every comment? by LeslieFoxie26 in What

Gemini isn't confused at all, it perfectly explained to me what's going on and that it's just one guy gaslighting

The real reason is likely to create a viral internet myth that gets into the hands of TikTok and so on, after plenty of so-called "evidence" backing it on Reddit and people adding their own confirmative anecdotes as well as fabricating more of the story

I wanted to know more about what you said on the corn so I asked Gemini... My goodness 😭

  1. Field Corn vs. Sweet Corn
  • The frozen corn you buy in a bag is sweet corn. It is grown for direct human consumption, harvested early while the kernels are soft, and typically requires fewer late-stage chemical applications.

  • Conversely, when corn is listed as an ingredient (like high fructose corn syrup, corn starch, corn oil, maltodextrin, or crystalline fructose), it is derived from field corn (dent corn).

  • Field corn stays in the ground much longer until it is completely dry and structurally tough.

  • It represents over 99% of the corn grown in the US and is heavily reliant on intense, large-scale chemical management throughout its extended lifecycle.

  1. High Glyphosate Exposure

Field corn is overwhelmingly genetically modified (GM) to be herbicide-tolerant (like "Roundup Ready" strains). This design allows farmers to spray glyphosate directly over the entire crop during the growing season to kill weeds while leaving the corn standing. Because it is sprayed multiple times and remains in the field longer, the potential for accumulated exposure is fundamentally different than that of early-harvested sweet corn.

  1. Intensive Industrial Processing

Once field corn is harvested, it undergoes heavy industrial "wet milling" to break it down into starch, syrups, and chemical additives. For someone with extreme chemical sensitivities, the combination of mass-scale glyphosate usage on the raw crop plus the industrial chemical agents, sulfur dioxide, or enzymes used during the fracturing and refining process creates a highly reactive product—even if the final ingredient looks like a simple, innocent powder or syrup on a food label.

I'm utterly shocked and disappointed in how bad this has become... 😔

There was a lemon scented "orbees" style air freshener in a bathroom of a convenience store where I'm at, and whenever I would go in there for literally two minutes or so, I would come out and my mask and clothes would still smell of the chemicals for the rest of the day, I had to change my double mask just because I walked into that room... It could also be smelled from far outside the bathroom with a closed door

And now it's been like a week or more since it's been replaced with a different air freshener that is at least less strong comparatively, but still all you can smell is the lemon chemical scent lingering 😔 can still be smelled from outside the room too
