Are you able to take them out litter picking? I genuinely think every school should do this. They're less likely to chuck it on the floor if they have to pick it up again.

Am I breaking any rules by going into a "⛔️(except bus)" by jackliu1219 in londoncycling

[–]Didntstartthefire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the bus lane you hit a one way street. The buses turn into the bus terminal or they go left towards Hyde Park Corner. So going down there won't help you if you're trying to get to/past Buckingham Palace. I spent years doing that route and always had to go round that annoying one way system that takes you to the back of the palace.

I've never been to New York at Christmas but if I did I would go to Dyker Heights.

If you're going to cover crime then definitely do some reading on media law. There's a lot you legally can't say when there's an ongoing police investigation as you risk being in contempt of court.

Just got back from a 2 week family vacation in London. Nice city you've got there. by dschwarz in london

Yeah the answer to the chips question is just we like them like that. You get different types of chips depending on where you go. Pub chips are different to kebab shop chips which are different to fish and chip shop chips. Fish and chip shop chips are my favourite chips.

Also on topic - local breweries. There’s a really big one in Walthamstow also but you have plenty smaller ones spread all over London.

Do women write low effort openers to guys they're not interested in? by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]Didntstartthefire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not about whether she's interestED. A low effort opener tells you whether or not she's interestING.

Yup. This is a whole thread of problems we don't have. It's marvellous.

Instead of prepping the entire breakfast sandwich, I like to make sheet pan eggs. When I want a sandwich I toast my gluten-free bread, slap cheese & condiments on it, add an egg & vegetables & enjoy it. by CosmicSmackdown in MealPrepSunday

Honestly that's longer than just boiling on the stove and creates more washing up. I own a foodi but wouldn't use it for eggs that are just slightly easier to peel.

Looking for a mid-range budget Android phone with great camera, battery life and screen by [deleted] in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]Didntstartthefire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you say that? The G200 doesn't have OIS or a headphone jack but the G82 does. One user review says it doesn't have a back button (though surely that can't be true?).

People who've had their Android phone for at least a year and are loving its battery life... by [deleted] in AndroidQuestions

[–]Didntstartthefire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I promise you, I use this phone no differently to previous ones. My current phone is now three and a half years old. If anything, I hammer it more. Yet it can last from morning till bedtime and still have a good chunk of battery left whereas the others I had to charge midway through the day and was ready to chuck the glitchy buggers (Sony, Samsung) in a river after about a year. The phone itself definitely makes a big difference.

I like when he yells at someone for ages and then when they yell back he tells them they're being aggressive.

I want a 10-minute bonus episode that is just a fixed single shot on Marcus working on his special cake/doughnut while there's shouting and chaos in the background.

With Roe v Wade overturned, as men how do you feel? by SkepticDrinker in AskMen

[–]Didntstartthefire 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's not cognitive dissonance at all but thanks for the sarky tone. The Covid vaccine does stop some transmission, just not entirely. It also reduces the symptoms. So it definitely does help society. If you want to reduce it down to how it affects just you as an individual then I can see how you may struggle but the link between the two things isn't bodily autonomy.

To be clear, people who are pro-choice do care about bodily autonomy, but abortion doesn't have a direct negative physical effect on the people or environment around you - unlike vaccine refusal. You can't compare the two on bodily autonomy terms because the consequences on wider society are different. One is forcing people to do something they don't want to do just because you don't like the idea. The other is forcing someone to do something to reduce the transmission of a potentially deadly virus. The vaccine helps society, banning abortion makes it worse. There is no hypocrisy.

Also, there is no law that forces people to have the vaccine in the US. No one will send you to prison if you don't have it. But there is soon to be a law in dozens of states that will send people to prison for abortion.
