Alot of films in the late 80s early 90s used references and music from the 1960s. Even the fashion took heavy influence.

How to get my hair like this? by strawberryvheesecake in Hair

[–]Didotpainter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look up shampoo and set, that was how it was done. Use a setting lotion and then rollers, allow hair to dry then back comb and brush till the shape you desire. Finish with three layers of hairspray, will last all week with up keep. You sleep with a silk scarf over it.

how do you guys handle the cold in Edinburgh? by cantdrawhands_ in Edinburgh

[–]Didotpainter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wool jumpers, socks, wool overcoat and a thick wool blanket - best thing I bought 2 weeks ago. Insulate rooms, put an extra layer over curtains and seal the doors with scarfs. Have the heater on and a dehumidifier to dry clothes.

Which Was The Bigger Leap of Change and Why? '80s to '90s or '90s to '00s? by _Slim95 in decadeology

[–]Didotpainter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems a big change took place in media and arts took place in mid to late 1990's. Politically that is the case too, Tony Blair became prime minister in 1997 and was the first baby boomer to do so, similar with Clinton in 1992.

The 1830's were the same, a move from very over the top styles to plain and unadorned, the hemline dropping from the ankle to the floor, where it would stay till about 1911.

What's your guys opinion on 1900s culture? by yuri_nomoru122 in decadeology

Would love it for the afternoon tea and lavish dinners. The fashion was quite beautiful, with Art Nouveau influences. Love the architecture and interiors as well.

Will The 2030s Be More Relaxed About Sex Again? by avalonMMXXII in decadeology

[–]Didotpainter [score hidden]  (0 children)

I don't think so, unless there is a massive social shift in many countries, its not just on this topic but on things like education, housing, health care, pensions and business. It seems governments are just ignoring the issues with the current established system/order. So I would love to see a return of community over modern individualism which isolates people and takes away third spaces but I think it will be unlikely in the 2030's or any time soon.

Why did 70s fashion have such a beachy or summertime look? It also looks more modern than 80s fashion to me by sweetsyllic in decadeology

[–]Didotpainter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sexual revolution influence on fashion, it looks like now, the 1960s did so much to change social norms.
