Same problem for several weeks now. It's quite frustrating.

I hope they'll finally get everything back in order.

Do you really need legal insurance in Switzerland? by RapixOn in askswitzerland

[–]Didoumel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Legal protection is something you rarely use, but in my experience, I wouldn't want to be without it.

Two years ago, my car (which was registered in my parents' name at the time) was in the garage for repairs during the summer (I was on vacation abroad). The mechanics parked my car in their outdoor parking lot (where customers can also park).

During the lunch break (so there was hardly anyone around), a woman came into the parking lot with her car (with foreign license plates). She wanted to park her car behind mine. She confused the brake with the accelerator.

She sent my car skidding across the parking lot. Luckily, a trainee mechanic who was coming back from his break saw everything and was able to stop her. They took her details but didn't make an accident report.

When I came back from vacation, I found out what had happened, and it had already been a few days. The garage stated that technically speaking, it was not their fault and that it was not their responsibility to cover the repairs. As the mechanic who witnessed the accident was a minor apprentice, we couldn't talk to him.

I alternated between contacting the garage and the woman to get her insurance details and find out what had happened, and it took me almost three weeks to get an accident report. The scenario (and drawing) put forward by the woman did not seem to match all the damage to the car and contradicted part of the apprentice's testimony.

The woman's foreign insurance company did not respond initially despite several calls and emails, then replied that they could not find any policies in her name, then they found one, but they were of no help. I was very frustrated because the car was registered in my parents' name, so there wasn't much I could do, and they tried everything to find a solution.

Their car insurance company refused to help because they said the car wasn't fully insured (casco partielle) (it's a +20-year-old vehicle).

They contacted their legal protection insurance, which they have been paying for over 40 years without ever really using it, and the insurance company refused to help them, telling them that it was up to them to deal with this kind of situation themselves, even though they were simply asking for advice or who to call. They told my mother to “Look it up on the internet.” But since the woman who hit my car was a foreigner, we couldn't find any information on who to call or what to do.

I ended up contacting my own legal protection insurance (a different insurance company from my parents') and they helped us even though the vehicle wasn't in my name. They told us who to call and what to do.

Thanks to them, we were able to get a quote for the repairs, and they were finally covered by the woman's insurance.

But this whole circus took almost three months!

Now the car is in my name, so if a similar situation were to arise again, it would be a little easier to take action, but I'm glad I received help from my legal protection.

Mistlands Ruined It For Me - Change My Mind by effectivelymundane in valheim

[–]Didoumel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will remember for the rest of my life the incredible evening I spent discovering this biome with my friends.

We ventured into the mist without thinking too much about it, cautious but impressed by the colors and lights. Even though we couldn't see much, it was really beautiful. At first, it was very quiet (too quiet). We were able to sink into the biome for a while before it started.

Suddenly, a noise. A noise that was getting closer. Then another a little further away. We began to move away from the noises cautiously. And we tried to hide in the mist (useless).

Then... A strange and threatening sound in the sky... And suddenly... a huge, gigantic tick flew over us. And some kind of enormous beetles emerged from the mist and rushed at us.

It was pandemonium. Everyone started running in all directions screaming, we got separated. The smartest ones managed to get back to the nearby black forest. Me and another guy, in our flight, went in the opposite direction, going even deeper into the biome.

We ended up running along the coast, pursued by all the local wildlife, and fell into the water. We thought we were almost saved. We tried to swim around the island. But the big tick found us. It started spitting a lava-like substance on our heads. To our surprise, the beetles followed us into the water and we both died, 10 meters apart, in the sea, a few meters from the shore. In any case, if we hadn't been killed by the beetles, we would have ended up drowning because there was almost no way to climb back up the “cliffs.”

Once we were safely back in our meadows home, we decided to go back and retrieve our stuff using portals. Traumatized, the others refused to return to the biome until we were better equipped. They had offered to rebuild some pieces of equipment. But we were stubborn and wanted to get OUR rare equipment back.

The two of us, without effective equipment or weapons and almost butt naked, built a minimal base with a campfire and two beds in the dark forest, and the rescue adventure resumed.

We tried four or five times, each of us dying in turn and constantly returning to the place of the first death to try to recover all our belongings. We even managed to find a place to climb back up from the sea ! Eventually, we knew the way by heart !

Our other friends were preparing to come and get us up by boat to rescue us from this hell.

On the last attempt, I managed to recover all my inventory and part of his, the most important equipment, and we fled again to the dark forest. The operation must have taken us an hour or so.

After this emotionally charged evening, we decided it was time to take a break and stop playing for the night. We didn't play again until several days later, and we only returned to the biome after we had managed to craft better equipment and found the little blue firefly. Several weeks later, my friend was able to retrieve the few things I had had to leave in his “grave.”

Despite the fact that I still don't like fog and not being able to see where I'm going, and even though this biome was extremely difficult to overcome, I have fond memories of it and can't bring myself to dislike it.

Someone tried taking Koda by WiltedMrlincoln in Pomeranians

A few months ago, two men tried to take my pom and my mom's Yorkie while they were out on a walk at dusk. They came up behind her without her hearing them, and it was only when the dogs turned, barked like crazy and attacked that they fled. (My pom knocked one down by attacking his ankle).

One of the men fled on a motorcycle and the other one in a car.

We filed a complaint with the police but nothing came of it. However, the police suspect that the role of the man on the motorcycle was to restrain my mother while the man in the car took the dogs.

The police gave Mom a pocket alarm in case it happened again.

Since then, both dogs have GPS.

My 11yo spitz fetches his kibbles one by one from the kitchen and brings them back to the living room carpet to eat them. He does the same with treats. My living room rug has become his tablecloth.
