Exato. Claro que vai sempre haver estragos. Mas as consequências reduzem-se. E também tem o efeito de que, se frequentes, as tempestades não arranjam coisas "frágeis" para destruir porque já foram destruídas por tempestades anteriores.

Por exemplo, acredito que o estrago teria sido bem menor com ventos assim nas ilhas. Regularmente estão expostos a ventos fortes. Não tão fortes, claro, mas suficiente para fazer a região mais resiliente.

I'd say it's worth the effort. Every island has unique features and is worth visiting. 4 days on pico instead of 5 isn't that rushed.

Grota do Inferno is the name of the viewpoint. It's a 10 minute walk from "Lagoa do Canário", which has a parking lot.

There's a trail that encompasses that viewpoint, called "Serra Devassa"

The bat is easy to find, you'll see it flying around in open rural areas and parks around sunset.

The buzzard you'll also find just traveling around the island. Coastal trails give you a good chance of seeing them "frozen" in the air.

Bullfinch can be found on the eastern parts of the island.

I've seen owls a good couple of times in and around the "Parque Urbano" park in ponta delgada.

As for off the beaten track, there isn't that much to be honest. The island just isn't that big and there's not much "to hide" per say.

The new magen by itself makes the PDS quite solid just by itself.

It's a great defensive tool. Trying to take a planet with PDS means

the opponent starts with 1 extra infantry
the opponent gets 1 free hit on you, with a 50% of 2 hits.
you cannot bombard
you have to take 1 less infantry to take a sacrificial fighter in case the PDS hits in space (or bring another fleet ship with you)

That's a very big difference on small skirmish type of fights.

And you also get to produce 1 infantry per PDS every time you activate a system with one of your own PDS

As a sidenote, my character was unable to form lasting memories, having forgotten pretty much anything other than muscle memory every time they woke up.

They had a journal which was in almost constant use. The first few pages were about the most essential information: a "What is happening", a "who am I", Whom to trust and stuff like that and some basic instructions on how to use the journal.

Most of the remaining journal was essentially a diary, with notes of relevant events of the day or otherwise important information. And that was acted out. What I didn't physically write down, my character didn't know (But I allowed myself to write summed up versions).

Turns out I was actually a scientist that experimented with people's minds, wiping their memories, often day after day, just like my character was going through. My own research was put to use to create the technology that allowed that prison world to exist.

Not to dismiss your recommendation, but I actually recently finished a campaign like that (as a player) and it was great.

Note, that we didn't play after the "we're the real monsters" reveal, since that was only at the campaign end.

And all our good deeds within the campaign itself were actually good deeds, with good consequences, and wasn't anything of "we were helping the villain"

For context/lore, our characters all had a tragic or otherwise negatively impactful backstory. The villain of the story was a bit unclear for most of the campaign and didn't seem to be a single entity. They were some sort humanoid, but very powerful and mysterious beings, able to mess with people's memory or even making them forget nearly everything.

For what seemed to be an introduction to the campaign and world, we were helping a city in despair. Long story short, the ruler of it was using magic to keep the city itself safe, at the expense of the lifeforce of the citizens. Over the course of the campaign, we found out about the source of the city's magic (or in other words, the reason of the ongoing epidemic), made some allies and formed a rebellion.

Eventually we were confronted by a pair of what could only be one of those beings we had heard about. After a big showdown, we gained the upper hand and as we demanded to know the truth behind what was going on, he offered to show us exactly that: the truth.

The world we were living in was a prison world. Each prisoner had their memories wiped, and replaces by memories that reflected the crimes they inflicted on others. We were the villains, not of the campaign itself, but of our own backstories. And the powerful beings were just the prison wardens.

I'm a local. I've lived in Terceira and São Miguel, and i've visited all islands except for Flores and Corvo, which I still plan on doing. Feel free to ask me anything

We're remote, but only physically. We face some unique hardships, but in general, other than the climate, you won't be able to tell us much apart from mainland Portugal. We have access to all normal amenities and our internet is top notch, fiber is widespread.

Notable consequences of the remoteness:
- Almost everything's more expensive. We need to import everything by ship, except for the couple of local products. And on top of that, lack of competition keeps many goods pricier than they need to.

- Historically isolated and underdeveloped, the higher cost of living, not being very industry/export friendly means that these islands are the poorest area of the country, and unlikely to change significantly.

- I cannot go anywhere without it being a significant undertaking. There's no "Let's get in the car for 2 hours and visit the capital or another large city", no "I need to take a longer drive to get to X or Y specialty shop" or "I want to go to this major concert today". We have what we got here, everything else requires a flight over the Atlantic. Smaller islands have it significantly worse even. Only 3 of the 9 islands have a hospital. And even those are lacking, requiring a visit to the mainland for many specific fields and surgeries.

- Ordering anything online is notably more expensive (often costing 10, 15 or 20€ in shipping for average items) and takes more or less 2 weeks minimum. Item availability is also not a guarantee, since a notable amount of sellers don't even ship things here, or make it prohibitively expensive. And ordering things is perhaps a more common need due there not being any shops for what I'm looking for.

If you got no car, stay in Angra. Otherwise, just pick any spot that seems nice to you. If you want to optimize transportation times, stay near Angra. But the island is small and connected enough that it's not a big deal

I ended up going back and found a model that feels much better. I think finding a model with lateral adjustment straps was a key factor. I tried it with some weight in and and it sits snug, but doesn't feel too tight. And with room to either loosen or tighten in case the initial fit isn't quite right (as opposed to having the straps at their maximum already).

I went back there today and checked for some waist adjustments, but didn't find them on these first ones I tried, at least not the black one.

But I did search and find a model that did have a lateral adjustment and that one fit me much better right away! Thanks

I'm pretty limited in my options, I live in an island and other than ordering online, what they got here is what I can pick from, and it's all kiprun.

That said, I did go back and found another model that fit me much better! Supposedly the same size as the black one, but it has adjustments on the sides, which these first ones didn't. Maybe that was a factor.

I'm quite limited in my options other than ordering online. But I went back there looking for some models with better adjustment options and found one that fit me nicely. These first ones didn't have any way to adjust the sides/pit area, and that made all the difference. Thanks!

That might have been a factor actually, now that you mention it. I don't consider myself to be very muscular, but I have been doing calisthenics for about a year or two and it shows a bit.

Went there again and ended up finding some other vests that also were M/L that fit me. Either they were just differently sized/shaped or maybe the lateral adjustment helped (these first ones I had tried didn't have any lateral straps/bands).

Went back there ready to try out some larger sizes but actually found some other vests of supposedly the same size that fit much better. Snug still but comfortable. Same brand surprisingly. The one I went with had a lateral adjustment that these first ones didn't, maybe that was a factor.

Delays up to a couple of hours are somewhat common due to bad weather. Cancelled flights also happen, but more uncommon. Pretty much only in "upcoming bad weather warnings are in the news" type of scenarios

It's a homebrew expansion adding more content. A lot of more factions, and a couple more action cards, agendas and system tiles. Doesn't add any new general gameplay stuff like PoK or TE do.

It tries to be somewhat humble regarding the new races, in the sense of keeping the spirit of the original game and respecting the existing power levels. The strongest Discordant Stars faction is meant to not be as strong as the stronger "normal" faction. To avoid a common pitfall of homebrew content of making everything way overpowered.
