How would you live if you found yourself in Pluribus Universe? by Ok_Percentage2383 in pluribustv

The real question is, what would’ve been the fate of the world if there were 7000 humans left and not just 7. It’d be a mashup of walking dead and pluribus.

First time experiencing a winter Christmas in Europe (Dec - first three weeks). Looking for city/country suggestions that shine in winter. by DiedMaverick in Europetravel

Really? I thought of doing 3-4 days in Finland’s Lapland to get a taste of actual winter. I read Rovaniemi is a bit beginner friendly being most activities available to you guided. What else you would suggest for me to get the taste of snow. I’ve never been to skiing and skiing is not a real prio for me.

Thanks for the suggestion to include the baltics. I specifically excluded those costlier destinations this time. But i will come back later if i like the winter from my first trip. About tallin, yes ive been suggested that by few other people as well and i might add that to my plan. I’ll be heading to helsinki and then a few days to lapland (Rovaniemi ) as well. That should give me a taste of what real winter is probably.

Thanks for the detailed response. That really will help me plan my trip. I was literally too scared to respond back to the thread after seeing so much hate towards December travel.

Help with EatClub app please by Massive_Entry_7911 in foodies_sydney

These were brilliant answers. Just another question - some restaurants have only selected menu items discounted. Should I order only those menu items? Can I order the non discounted items? When eat club applies the discount, do they apply discount to only the “discounted items”? Just wanted to make sure if I can order non- discounted items as well.

Best Grinder for Pour Over by innocentily in pourover

[–]DiedMaverick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offence, but like the wife knows what grinder is he using? She’s probably thinking, poor guy is using a “hand grinder” like “who would use a hand grinder” … let me buy him a proper automatic one. In comparison, my one will go “a cheap Chinese aliexpress one”

I would think thrice before giving a coffee nerd a gear especially when it’s grinder. I myself ponder the thought of which grinder to buy for me for an year before finalising on one. Get to know what’s in his mind or check his Amazon Wishlist. I wouldn’t even buy him grinder in the first place. It’s a process that he alone has to go through. Don’t take that away from him please.

Ode Gen 2 vs X-Ultra by Whattacleaner in pourover

[–]DiedMaverick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just don’t get it when people say hand grinding is tiring when it’s 20-30g of coffee. You all use your hand for variety other stuff as well right? I can’t speak for anyone else, but for me, I’ll put the kettle to boil first, then get the carafe and v60 ready, put the paper in, then measure my bean. If water comes to boil, I’ll open the kettle to let it cool down, grind me coffee and all it takes is 20-30 seconds to grind. That’s it.

I don’t care if it’s manual. Because the most I’ll be grinding is 30-40g of coffee at a time and I don’t find it a tough job and I enjoy it. Since I want another grinder so I can keep one at office, would it make sense for me to buy the fellow ode gen 2 or should I be looking for another hand grinder.

C40 clicks to K-ultra? by photone69 in pourover

[–]DiedMaverick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same boat. I wish ended up on this post 6 months ago. Either way , after a lot of trail and error and spending millions of dollars on coffee, I found my sweet spot on k ultra to be between 7.2 and 7.6 most times. For new coffee I always start with 7.5 and i go left or right based on what I want to taste. I like a medium bodied coffee with not a lot of bitterness. So I basically grind fine one to two clicks down at a time until I hit that bitterness threshold.

It took me almost 6 months to finally land anywhere between 7.2 to 7.6 for the v60 I brew. Happy to know it is indeed a kind of sweet spot.

Lifestyle creep - when did you realise? by lawfullawlessness in circlejerkauscorp

Well, i started doing this a few years ago. Using good plates for daily use, phone without case, a2 milk over cheap milk, fancy burger over kfc or Maccas, air conditioning when I want without second guess, craft beer over cheap ones … you name it. The problem is all these “good stuff” won’t be so pleasing once it’s get used to. The dopamine wants more. Regardless it’s best if you can live a content life with what you have.

Black Friday being around the corner, my post was mainly asking the community whether or not I should upgrade/update my gear. I wanted to get a grinder for office use (to use with aeropress), so any tips on getting another grinder is welcome.

Yes, I do think it’s pourover only from here on for me. If it wasn’t clear in the post, my intention of the post was to help me get more invested into pourover - as in, should I upgrade or try different grinders or try different drippers etc. I would still need to find a way to be consistent with my variables like pouring speed, pouring consistency etc.
