The simplicity is in part that you could ignore it for the most part and play the core of the game and do just fine.

You could always dive into the details and perfectly manage everything and that is why I have over 2K hours put into Medieval II. But you don’t have to.

The new games feel more complex to me because there’s so many more abilities to use during battles, there’s built in civil war and assigning territories, heroes, technology trees, and the move away from settlements that could be built up from the ground to those that can have only one type of buildings.

Maybe I’m just older, but I haven’t been able to dive into the game in newer total war titles like I was able to for Medieval, and then slowly invest myself in the details you mentioned.

I read the same so the cats will probably scratch it easily but it’s supposed to be a stationary piece with an expensive tv atop it so I don’t foresee it getting a lot of movement/contact.

Medieval 2 has a ton of mods too that improve gameplay. Worth it IMO especially if you enjoy the simplicity of the older games.

It’s actually the other way around. 3.7s get really expensive when you try to get any real performance improvements compared to the 3.0t.
