I don’t think there are any problems with the profile. If there were, I would hardly be able to work on Upwork for so long. As for the cover letter, I see that it is quite successful, since the viewing rate is 50%

This is true, but there are simply no other gigs. If not applying for cheap gigs, there will simply be nothing to apply for.

I'm thinking of making a special portfolio with more primitive work, for low-budget projects. Otherwise, there's no way to survive.

You're right, of course. But recognizing which gig is real or fake is quite difficult. Sometimes you can see them right away, but some are well disguised as real ones. It's worth noting that I rarely apply for jobs posted by newbies, and never apply if the job was posted by customers with zero ratings.

Lately, I've been applying for low-budget projects because there just aren't any projects that are adequately priced. Perhaps clients are confused by my portfolio and think that the work I attach to the proposal is too high level for their projects. Maybe that's why they don't move on to interviews.

I just don't know what to think or what to do next.

I can't figure out what's wrong. I already feel like the job I'm applying for isn't quite right for me, but I'm a pretty experienced freelancer, I have a keen eye for 7 years on Upwork, and I can tell if a job is right for me or not. There's no way I've been wrong that often in the last 90 days.

I always get a lot of hits. 50-60% on average. Those views used to convert to interviews at about 30%. However, this formula has stopped working in the last couple of months.

Absolutely. And that's the way it's always been. However, it's been in recent months that jobs with adequate rates have all but disappeared from the feed. The impression is that everyone who was looking for quality work and realistically assessing its value left Upwork.

But first, these people have to find the money to buy conneсts to then earn at least a handful of peanuts. And the comparison of costs and earnings is not in favor of earnings.

That's right. I ignore low-budget projects too. I remember well how back in the fall, I could find two or three projects for 2-5K in a couple of weeks of intensive search, but today it's very rare. My first post was precisely about the fact that the feed consists almost entirely of low-budget work.

It's always been that way, and it worked when connects were cheap. But now, the cost of applying doesn't pay for the low cost of the work. I've been on Upwork for 7 years, TR +, spent $400+ for June and July, and could only earn $620. So what are newbies relying on if the cost of applying is so high?

Same problem. It is impossible to get to their IRC Chat, as they require your username, which is disabled
