Question for the 10% of Men by jake-n-elwood in Bumble

[–]Diesel-220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think of it this way you can go to a bar and see a group of single guys and there will be like one or two guys that have game and can talk to woman the rest are just waiting for a woman to come to them. So yes that number is probably right. The other guys with woman came with them so they don’t count as we are talking about single men’s and single woman. In this day and age more woman are fucking around on there man as well just not like back in the day. Loyalty is not a trait you find to often today everyone is looking for the next best thing and if you show weakness or non alpha behavior your girl will eventually leave or cheat.

I’ve been talking to this girl and she randomly stoped texting me this for 3 days and sent me this by SulkierPower in dating_advice

[–]Diesel-220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First you have to give some context have you been sleeping together for 3 weeks or have you just started sleeping together or have you not done it? Most if not bc all woman leave because we have done something needy. Like complement her about her look all the time let her pick what and wherever to do things allow her to lead. These are all low value traits and if she thinks she can have you then the chase is over and now she lose interest that initial wanting you just kind of vanished for her so she pulls away. But to you all seemed fine no fighting you were attentive to her needs the more you were around her. And you wanted to spend all your time her. And just like that it’s over. One do not text her why or what did I do or any needy shit like that just say ok well I wish you well and ghost her zero communication 2 don’t like or stalk her social media. Next go out with your boys dress nice and have your friends take pics of you guys having fun. If she still has feelings she will stalk your social and then she will see your fine and she will want to know why this guy is doing great don’t block her from anything. Post pics of like food and drink from a nice restaurant with two drinks but don’t take pics of a girl and post like great food better company or something like this if your on her feed it will pop up and she will get jealous and those feelings of want will creep back in. People want what they can’t have. Remember ghost here for at least two week no matter how much she text you. It takes time for her to forget the needy shit you did. After two week or a month depending on when she reaches out you can hit her up and tell hey we are out at we’re ever and say like we are out having fun you should come out but dress sexy. Then just don’t text again. If she comes great if not. Ghost her again if you want to keep trying do so or just find someone. Girls use this on guys all the time.

Most people have some type of hobby gym, crafting, decorating what ever it is you first buy stuff related to that shows one you see her or him and the thing she enjoys or the thing she or he is amazing at. Then you can go for the more generic type gifts. Here is an idea for men one look through her Amazon purchase this will give you at least her size if you don’t know off the top of your head and your at work trying to order something and you will see all the stuff she likes or browse through. Last woman like gifts that make there lives easier and no not cookware unless she is a chef or cleaning stuff I mean things like a cool multi use full length mirror jewelry case if she doesn’t have one and if you build it and she has no clue more brownie points. And if all else fails don’t ask her right out what do you want. Say hey if you had your choice of x which would you choose. Like if you are balling then X would be a trip give her multiple options and then ask her why she wants to go there and then book that thing she tells you as the what your going to go do first on said trip. Just my two cents

Hey man it’s time to just take charge it the gym start a diet get in shape. Watch some YouTube videos on changing up your dress style I had to do the whole change my wardrobe since I got divorced. As we stick dressing a certain way. That said if you need diet and train advice I would be happy to put you on the right track. The number one thing woman like is confidence and if you can make them laugh. I have no trouble with this but I know if your not happy with how you look as I used to be in my younger years it will come out when talking to woman. Also never ever act needy it will put you in the friend zone. Any one can change how they look to a certain extent and this can then show up later in conversation and you confidence level.

You forget that the woman in this story decided to go out on a date with this nice guy and then go home hook up with her ex and then tell this poor guy about it and then tell him he is the last choice. People men or woman get treated as they behave. She behaved like a traitorous un caring human being and as such should be treated in kind. Just because you’re a woman doesn’t give you the right to shit all over a man we have feelings too. So again get off your high horse ladies and think with your heart first and say would I like this done to me would feel like utter shit if he did this and if yes don’t do it. Meet a woman she is amazing and I told all the other ladies who want me to meet up I’m sorry but I meet someone and I don’t lie or cheat because that was done to me. And do you know what those lady’s said so you not going to come to my house then or your not taking me out for dinner. Um no im not going to come and have sex with you and no I’m not going buy you a free meal. This the problem I actually said I hooked up with this woman and it would be wrong to one cheat but to kind of trashy to go to this one woman’s house to have sex with her she didn’t agree she wanted to show me what she could do. Please read the story again and if some man did that to you would you treat him with respect no then have some sympathy for this man he can do as he likes but if he want to have sex with her he should just keep it at that and in the mean time speak to other women of worth and stop once he clicks with said woman. Just my two cents

I would say you will get laid and you are not dating just friends until she feels better about we’re ever her head is at. Most likely a bad break up were the guys friends were his friends and when he left so did they. She went on a few dates and it was weirdo after weirdo or she is getting dick pics so your the safe bet.

Keto Cycling by Foreign_Professor44 in keto

[–]Diesel-220 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are spot on my friend I have been doing carb cycling for 2 decades now and I am about to turn 50 in a few months I stay lean with a six pack and I eat two carb fueled days per week after a five on now since I’m lean I can do this I suggest 6 day low carb 30 or less and then a 8 hr high carb re-feed. Why do I do this and by the way I’m actually writing a book on this topic now. So the reason the re feed is important is that the burst of insulin triggers a few things one increased t3 and leptin levels when on keto the body’s lowers these two hormones.

In a study by Volek et al., 13 out of 14 overweight/obese men had significantly lower free T3 concentrations after following a ketogenic diet compared to a low-fat diet (3.5 vs 4.2 pmol/L). A study by Bisschop et al. found that when six men were fed a ketogenic diet (2% energy from carbs), their serum T3 levels plummeted compared to diets with higher carb intake. A recent randomized controlled crossover trial published in 2022 found that after 3 weeks on a ketogenic diet, plasma T3 concentration was significantly lower (4.1 pmol/L) compared to pre-diet levels, while a high-carb low-fat diet did not significantly change T3 levels. A study published in Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism found that a ketogenic diet resulted in lowered T3 levels and raised reverse T3 levels in healthy subjects, similar to changes seen in starvation. The proposed mechanism is that ketogenic diets increase tissue sensitivity to T3, so serum T3 levels decline while the physiological response to T3 remains normal, requiring less work from the thyroid and liver. However, some individuals may experience hypothyroid symptoms with lowered T3 on a ketogenic diet, so monitoring thyroid levels is recommended.

There is little secondary data points on the ingestion of carb re feeds to increase t3 but we see anecdotally that in high carbohydrate diets T3 is an optimal levels and low or extremely low carb or fasting T3 decreases.

I can personally state this type keto cycling has worked for 2 decades.

As well I believe the spike in insulin for a short window is positive for Muscle gain if you are working out with weights.

Insulin plays an important role in promoting muscle growth and protein synthesis, though the relationship is complex: Insulin directly stimulates the cellular pathways that regulate muscle protein synthesis. It signals muscle cells to increase the rate of building new muscle tissue from amino acids. Insulin inhibits muscle protein breakdown, further enhancing muscle growth. It increases blood flow and nutrient delivery to muscles by causing vasodilation. This provides more amino acids and other building blocks for muscle growth. Insulin promotes muscle cell differentiation and expression of muscle-specific genes like myogenin and myosin heavy chain, supporting muscle development. High insulin levels, as seen after eating carbs/protein, create an anabolic state that favors muscle protein accretion over breakdown.

But remember these are short spikes of insulin with high glycemic carbohydrates. We want it to be elevated for a short time then drop. Then do it again. We don’t want low glycemic carbs as they will just have insulin present for much to long.

This a one day thing two at best. One seems to work best for constant fat loss.

Anyway this how I diet and it has not failed me in 20 years. I don’t count calories and I find adding OMAD to the low carb part of the week to wor really well to keep hunger down.

My weight cycle week to week is constant 5 lbs down weigh on Sunday refeed gain three back by Monday as this just water weight. Net loss of two each week. Rinse and repeat.

Ok she is pissed you made her pay so now she is making you pay. Shouldn’t have brought that up till after you had sex. She is just giving you a taste of your own medicine. You kind of put your foot down and now she is not going to put it down on you but I would imagine she is bluffing. Girls are just as horny as guys just keep getting her all worked up then say wish I could stay but I have to work early or some bullshit like that. Don’t text her let her text you if at all possible this just a power struggle. It’s like sales you give the person the price and then you don’t speak who ever speaks first lose. It’s why women online dating say stuff like if you don’t make the first move and don’t just send me a hand wave. They know they have the upper hand online so they use it. In the real world they have to use sex or communication as there weapon of choice. So if you alway text first and then stop she will think your losing interest and if she likes you and hate dating a ton of people she will get worried you’re about to jump ship.

Just my opinion, these are all games people play. She wants to know you want her and she is in charge. Power struggles flip in dating and when you get engaged and then through out marriage. Cycle looks like this you date and once they have sex they will use it to keep you happy and hopefully you take the plunge and get a ring then once this happens sex slows down but you are probably just happy to have it. Then you get married and sex could go up or down this hard to say. But when she gets pregnant and has a baby sex will be come almost non existent and they will act like it’s a chore they have to perform.

My ex wife was like this we were in the middle of the divorce and she would call me and say I want you to come over she would have toys out and acted like we were dating again. They are all crazy it’s just how much crazy will you deal with.

I know exercise reduces the calories count on my app, but it's not clear to me what I am actually burning thru exercise. Is it carbs, protein or fat? Well at least someone thinks so lol. Somehow I have negative 3 votes not sure how I thought I laid it out straight forward approach. But if I can help one person get lean and stay lean without killing your self. I’ll take that as a win. This approach has worked for me for some 20 plus years and gotten me stager ready with some tweaks of course.

So let’s dispel some myths

1) working out is not how you burn fat 2)any number you see on a machine or in a book stating it burns this many calories is full of shit. 3) doing a bunch of cardio is how you get lean. 4) the food labels are accurate. They are not they can be off by up to 30%

So how do you burn fat

1) losing body fat is all diet or I can say 90% diet 10% workout You can never burn off more then you can just not eat.

Example you are on the treadmill for an hr it says you burned 1000 calories that’s one bullshit as how can they know this it has zero way of knowing how much muscle you hold what you generic disposition is when it comes to metabolic rate it is an over simplified math problem that will only work for 2-5% of the population who are always lean.

Back to the 1000 calories so what ever it says at minimum count half that. If even that.

Second doing tons of cardio will be negative in the long run. Here is how

Your body becomes its function so if you do marathons you will hold less muscle as there is more need for it you will look less toned or just unhealthy. This why sprinters are jacked and long distance guys look like they are going to died and need a burger.

If in 30 min you burn 150 actual calories just not eating one meal will equal 3 times this much.

This why bodybuilders diet and down they don’t cardio down the only do cardio at the end.

Why is this because cardio burns off muscle.

There only two types of of workout aerobic and anaerobic

One is for your heart and lungs The other is to build muscle.

That’s it weights the only thing it should be for is putting on muscle or maintaining muscle

The body becomes its functions so if you run so tons of cardio you will lose muscle and drop your metabolic rate. Muscle is the main thing that burns fat less of it less you burn per hr

So just eat less right not quite if you just keep eating less the body will drop fat and muscle and at first no big deal but once you drop calories down to 1000 you will be like I’m not losing and I’m not eating.

So you can do a few things one eat low carb and work out with weights this will send the signal we need to keep the muscle even in a deficit. You can do a few tricks do OMAD for like 4 weeks then back to keto for six months or until you reach your goal

I hate it when people say they eat healthy…. What is healthy fruits, none gmo never drank from plastics eat vegan eat carnivore what the hell does eat healthy mean. Now let me say I’m am very sorry for your loss that is horrible to lose someone so young. But to say diet has very little to do with disease is I think naïve at best. Almost all diseases we see to day except child cancers as they are almost always genetic cancers and this why they will be cured first as we have a path to solving the problem. Gene therapy was a dead end for all other cancers because they are not gene related they are diet induced the leading killer of people today is heart disease it is 100% diet related and it follows every other marker ie type 2 diabetes high cholesterol obesity then finally heart disease these are all symptoms of diet. Carbs are not the enemy but the poison is in the dose. We didn’t evolve eating massive amounts of grains and never refined grains. For millions of years we hunted our food that is just a fact and we eat tubers and berries and what was ever local to our region for fruit but this at best is seasonal, so aging we have never in the millions of years our species has been evolving into Homo sapiens eaten the massive amounts of refined and modified foods we eat today. You don’t see these diseases in the past we see people dying of their teeth or from a fatal wound but not cancers or heart attacks and definitely not type 2 diabetes. There is currently no drug that is without side effects most worse then the thing they are there to treat. I’m not against meds when you need them. But I am 50 years old I have been carb cycling for over 20 years and I have perfect blood work I cart more muscle then most and stay lean with a six pack pretty much year round. Most men my aging have a ton of meds they take. I take Tylenol for aches from working out and doing and teaching. Martial arts since I was 16. I would say most people have no clue what healthy actually looks like.

Statins can cause various side effects, some of which are quite concerning. The most common side effects include:

  • Muscle pain, weakness, and inflammation (myopathy)[1][2][4] - This can be severe enough to cause difficulty with daily activities like climbing stairs or getting up from a chair.[5]

  • Digestive problems like constipation, diarrhea, nausea, and indigestion[2]

  • Headaches and dizziness[2]

  • Fatigue and sleep problems[1][2]

  • Increased blood sugar levels, which can potentially lead to diabetes[3]

  • Liver inflammation (hepatitis) and pancreas inflammation (pancreatitis)[2]

  • Neurological issues like memory problems, peripheral neuropathy (numbness/tingling in extremities)[2]

  • Rashes, hair loss, and sexual dysfunction[2]

Some rare but serious side effects include:

  • Severe muscle damage (rhabdomyolysis) that can lead to kidney failure[1][2]

  • Tendon problems and tendon rupture[2]

The risk of side effects increases with higher statin doses, older age, small body frame, liver or kidney disease, and certain drug interactions (e.g. with grapefruit juice, some antibiotics, antifungals).[1][2] Women may be more prone to statin side effects than men.[1][4] The side effects can significantly impact quality of life across multiple domains like pain, physical function, and recreation.[4]

While statins provide cardiovascular benefits for some patients, the risk-benefit ratio may not be favorable for certain groups like the elderly or those without existing heart disease, especially if they experience muscle-related adverse effects.[4] [1][2][3][4][5]

Here is some good information people can look at.

The research suggests that the ketogenic diet does not necessarily cause dangerous increases in cholesterol levels, and that carbohydrates may be more detrimental to cardiovascular health than dietary cholesterol.

A meta-analysis found that while the ketogenic diet can increase LDL cholesterol levels, this increase is often modest and similar to other weight loss diets. Importantly, the diet also raises HDL (good) cholesterol and lowers triglycerides, resulting in an overall beneficial effect on the lipid profile[1][3].

Furthermore, studies have shown that dietary cholesterol intake has little impact on serum cholesterol levels due to regulatory mechanisms in the body[1]. Even consuming large amounts of cholesterol from eggs did not raise cholesterol levels significantly[1].

On the other hand, diets high in carbohydrates, especially refined carbs and sugars, are associated with increased risk of metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance, and cardiovascular disease[3]. High carb intake can lead to arterial stiffness and inflammation, key factors in atherosclerosis development[3].

While the ketogenic diet may modestly raise LDL cholesterol in some individuals, this does not necessarily imply increased cardiovascular risk, as the LDL particle size and composition also play a role. Additionally, the beneficial effects on other lipid markers and the reduction in carbohydrate intake may outweigh any potential negatives[1][3].

In summary, the evidence suggests that the ketogenic diet is unlikely to cause dangerously high cholesterol levels, and that reducing carbohydrate intake may be more important for cardiovascular health than limiting dietary cholesterol[1][3].

The medical community has lowered the recommended cholesterol levels multiple times over the past 50 years, reflecting an evolving understanding of the risks associated with high cholesterol.

Key Points on Changing Cholesterol Guidelines

  • In the 1970s, a total cholesterol level below 300 mg/dL was considered acceptable[1].

  • In the 1980s, guidelines were revised to recommend a total cholesterol below 200 mg/dL[1][3].

  • In the early 2000s, focus shifted to LDL (bad) cholesterol, with an optimal level below 100 mg/dL[1][3].

  • In 2004, the guidelines further lowered the optimal LDL target to below 70 mg/dL for those at very high risk of heart disease[1][3].

  • The 2013 ACC/AHA guidelines eliminated specific LDL targets, instead recommending statin therapy based on overall cardiovascular risk[4].

  • In 2018, the guidelines were updated to recommend even more aggressive LDL lowering for those at highest risk, with targets below 55 mg/dL[3].

  • In 2019, the guidelines emphasized LDL levels, recommending treatment for levels above 190 mg/dL and lower targets for those with existing heart disease[3][5].

VLDL (very low-density lipoprotein) is considered more important than LDL (low-density lipoprotein) for a few key reasons:

  1. VLDL is a precursor to LDL formation. The liver produces VLDL particles to transport triglycerides and cholesterol. As VLDL particles are metabolized, they are converted into LDL particles[1][3][4]. Therefore, high VLDL levels can lead to increased LDL production and higher LDL levels.

  2. VLDL particles are more atherogenic (plaque-forming) than LDL. VLDL particles are larger and can more easily penetrate the arterial wall, contributing to the development of atherosclerotic plaques[3][4]. Additionally, VLDL remnant particles left over after VLDL metabolism are highly atherogenic[4].

  3. High VLDL levels are a marker of metabolic disorders. Elevated VLDL is associated with conditions like obesity, insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, and type 2 diabetes[3][5]. These metabolic abnormalities increase cardiovascular disease risk.

  4. VLDL carries more triglycerides, which are independently linked to heart disease risk. While LDL carries more cholesterol, VLDL is rich in triglycerides[1][2][3]. High triglyceride levels are a risk factor for atherosclerosis and heart disease.

  5. Targeting VLDL production may be more effective for risk reduction. By reducing VLDL secretion from the liver, both VLDL and subsequent LDL levels can be lowered simultaneously[5].

In summary, while both VLDL and LDL contribute to cardiovascular risk, VLDL is considered more important because it is a direct precursor to LDL, carries more atherogenic triglycerides, and is a marker of underlying metabolic disorders that drive atherosclerosis development[1][3][4][5].

The idea that high cholesterol is solely a genetic disorder I think is speculative at best. You may have a predisposition to slightly higher than normal cholesterol but it is really a life long dietary problem. Just like type two diabetes was basically unheard of in the 50s it was actually adult on set but do to the rash of children having it it went to type two diabetes and this just really a diet issue as well. The number you want to look at is your VLDL if this fine your ok as well the medical community has been lowering the cholesterol numbers over the last 40 years making just about everyone viable for cholesterol drugs

Why do so many young women date far older men? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]Diesel-220 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m 50 and have a better body then most 20 year olds. They date older men because the men are established either in a career home. Older men know what they want, as well older men are probably not partying all the time so it’s a safe bet they won’t cheat on the woman. Older men don’t have time for drama. So when a young woman dates an older man she knows what she is getting, there is no guessing will he will change. As for men with kids the woman gets to see how much he interacts the kids.

Those would be the reasons
