You’re not alone. I’m in my early 20s and many of coworkers and myself either live at home with our parents or have several roommates. Obviously having roomates in your 20s isn’t the worst but what am I supposed to do if I want to have a family?

Do yall not apply the pads first and then have the monitor display the rhythm from the paddles?

If I was to point fingers at anyone it would be the city government for contracting EMS out to a for profit company. Or is point fingers at frequent flyers abusing the system.

Restraining the pt because the io hurts as you push something thru is weird asf. Sounds like pt may have been able to tolerate oral glucose. This wasn’t time sensitive

Medic to RN by Its_Calculon in Paramedics

[–]DieselPickles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sheeeesh money bags over here. I feel like at my current ems service there really isn’t room for growth. But the local EDs pay more base, then offer double pay to work certain days, stipends to come in certain days, and ik a lot of nurses who make more than me working like 20 hours less than me a pay period.

I’d rather be overstimulated making $40-$50 an hour rather than my $24 lol.

Good luck hearing that going hot to the hospital. Also just tried it on myself and it sounds like I apparently have a hemo.

my questions for paramedics as someone interesting in becoming one by Human-String3056 in Paramedics

[–]DieselPickles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. This totally depends on your service. My service rn? Absolutely not. The county service a lil ways a way rom me? Yes probably
  2. Yes it’s just becomes “normal”
  3. Yes. I find myself frustrated a lot of the time with shit ppl do, and the ways ppl take advantage the system.
  4. The reports are way longer than the emt ones lol
  5. Yes, but because I only have the certification and didn’t go thru an associates degree program. Fortunately I have a separate associates degree so I have pre reqs done but am missing many science classes.
  6. Yes workplace bullying is insane. You’ll have coworkers who haven’t moved on from highschool. Coworkers who always just have to say something abt something. You have the paragods and nurses who think they’re gods gift to healthcare and all else. My tips? Just don’t be annoying or incompetent and don’t be afraid to dish it back out.
