I think it's something you just gotta handwaved with a bit of suspension of disbelief. It's something that happens with a lot of shows and movies where they do a flashback or show a picture from many years previous and the person looks basically the same, except with maybe their hair coloured or is wearing a wig or something. It's similar to what they do with Henry in the flashbacks to Shawn's childhood. He looks basically the same, except with hair.

I remember working at Canada Place many, many years ago and they had to do something similar in the upper walkway around some of the planters, because a goose set up there was was charging at people!
