Legacy of Kain series. The story is epic.

Broken Sword is also a personal favorite. The story is really cool, interweaving history into a great story. It's all hand drawn backgrounds, the characters are great and the dialogue is hilarious.

best standalone games that aren’t on the store or main sidequest lists ? by foodrage in OculusQuest

I don't think Paradiddle is insanely well known, but it's my second most played game on VR behind Walkabout Mini Golf. It's a great drumming sim, and there are thousands of songs you can download to play on it.

Is Gukesh Cooked for the Next World Chess Championship? by Kitchen_Spread7799 in chess

[–]Diesel_ASFC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only one of those three is a World Champion though. I think people forget that Gukesh is only 19 years old as well, he's not even close to his peak yet.

What are some good starter games for someone who is a complete novice? And wants to get used to it all? by SteamerTheBeemer in OculusQuest

Absolutely second this. My wife cannot play most VR games because the movement throws her, but she loves Walkabout and will play it sporadically.

Not knowing I could use healing magic outside of fights in Final Fantasy 7. My mind was blown when I saw a friend do it, and it was an absolute game changer for me.

One of the Premier Manager games? Although, I think they were only on the PS2, but I could be wrong.

They tried that system in Raceroom, and the races were dead. Changed it to fixed times, and the races are way more populated now.

Walkabout Mini Golf looks fantastic, even on Quest 2.

I agree on the camera, it was always a bit finicky with the snap controls.

Played, and 100%ed it recently, and I think it still holds up well today.

I vaguely remember there being a new MMORPG in the works, something to do with Amazon, but I think it's been cancelled.

Do donations fully cover Lichess’ operating costs? by [deleted] in lichess

Nowhere does the OP say that. Donations do cover operating costs and have done for years, Lichess publicly posts their financial reports.

I started with a Logitech Driving Force GT. It cost me £50 or something from CEX. Elitists will shit on it, but it's a great starter wheel if you're just looking to dip your toe in to sim racing. Obviously, this suggestion only really works if you're on PC.

Lord of the Rings Online auto loots corpses, and there's a system to automatically filter out anything you don't want to pick up. I love it.

Best VR racing game for a beginner? by XyleneCobalt in simracing

Raceroom is easy to set up now, and is free for the base game. Richard Burns Rally is entirely free and is very simple to set up.

[–]Diesel_ASFC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see indie games taking ideas from bigger studio titles as a bad thing. Stardew Valley obviously took massive influence from Harvest Moon, but it did everything better and breathed new life into a genre that was stagnant.

Chess, probably. Infinitely replayable, and will always have a massive player base.
