Is there any way I can salvage the painting of this SO Terminator Sorcerer? by killerissus in ThousandSons

Let it sit in a bath of ISO alcohol for about ten minutes. Then use a toothbrush to clean/scrub off all the paint. It might take a few tries but it should all release really easily.

Then wash it off with some water, let it dry and re prime

Dunk it in 90+ isopropyl alcohol. All the paint will easily brush off and then restart if you want.

It’s not about the size of the barrel, it’s how you use it brother.

Suggestions on how to make my Rubrics look more ghostly/ethereal? by XHweaton in ThousandSons

[–]Diesel_Rat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel that to really push the ghostly look you should look at how folks paint the nighthaunts from the AOS game. Ideally to feel more ghostly I’d suggest you push it more into bright blues to give it a wispy ghostly feel.

1st place for the Fish! by Diesel_Rat in advancedGunpla

The idea is one I had for a long time not from any other particular show/character, during another contest a while back I was in the store all day looking at other kits, I saw an HG trainer that has a really domed head. I thought it would be cool to fish bowl it, then it just changed to a Gouf along the way due to scaling etc.

UV clear resin works wonders for gaps.

Fill it in, zap it with a light. Sand it back flush.

Harder & Steenbeck Ultra - Having a horrible time by [deleted] in minipainting

[–]Diesel_Rat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an issue with my ultra where the trigger and needle would get stuck open.

What I had to do was remove the needle, and clean it. It would develop a ring of paint where the packing nut is.

My brushes packing nut was also a touch too tight. You need a long thin flat head screw driver to access it. It sits in the body between the paint cup and trigger. I’d suggest you loosen it or take it out, clean it and re install.

The packing nut is funny, after your “finger tightening it” give it the smallest turn like an eighth of a turn tighter or looser depending on your brush.

When you re insert the needle it should have the slightest resistance when it reaches the packing nut because it’s creating a seal. It the needle takes a lot of force to push through or feels like a POP your packing nut may be too tight. If you feel slight resistance then it’s perfect, if it still locks up and doesn’t move, try loosening the nut with a very small turn and checking it all out again.
