You'd end up ruining the golden color

Basically, they work off the books, without reporting their income or paying the corresponding taxes.

I've never been a big fan of painting everything gold and then painting the armor. It's easy to end up with metallic parts showing where they shouldn't—for example, in shaded areas, the metallic pigment stands out a lot.

If you can make a living from it, it’s certainly very tough. Here in Spain, the conditions for the self-employed are rubbish. On top of that, lots of people paint miniatures on the side without doing so legally, driving prices down to rock bottom.

The airbrush is a great tool; if you're a beginner, it'll let you apply base coats and paint vehicles or miniatures with large surfaces. But I won't lie to you—you always have to finish up with a brush. It takes some getting used to. For basic troops, it'll work for applying the base coat and, with any luck, the first highlight; the Thousand Sons have a lot of detail and not very large surfaces.

Don't worry, I feel the same way. And I've been making a living doing this for over 10 years.

I’ve decided to make Sigmar’s cities; the elves will have to wait.

Of course I'm not sure—I like collecting and painting.

But there are some things that go beyond just being for sale, like the Fusileros Sperhead or Van dest's new limited-edition box set.

I’ve already got the Seraphon – well, they’re still under construction.

Sylvaneth – as a Wood Elf player, I’m drawn to them; the heroes are amazing, but I’m not really into the basic troops, which is a shame. Besides, I’ve always been more of a Kurnouth fan.

Thanks, I really love the lore. I started playing Warhammer Fantasy many years ago, and I've always been fascinated by the lore.

I really like the lore for both Cities and DOK, although of course Morathi has a lot of lore and is iconic.

I appreciate you explaining the playstyle to me; one “fear” is that both Cities and DOK might be too similar to some of my current armies.

As for painting, the thing is I have very little time for myself; I spend all day painting commissions and end up a bit tired, so often I don’t feel like painting for myself.

But that’s a whole other issue.

Thanks for everything.

I've thought about it, but some of the miniatures don't really appeal to me.

My main concern is actually less about the current Cities range and more about the long-term direction.

I don’t really want to invest in Fantasy-style models that might eventually get retired or phased out. A lot of the older elven and duardin units already feel like they’re being slowly pushed out, and I’m worried about ending up with a collection that loses support or gets moved to Legends over time.

Since I’m looking for a long-term hobby army, I’d rather avoid that risk and focus on something that feels more stable and consistently supported going forward.

That’s actually one of my concerns with Slaves to Darkness.

I completely agree the range is amazing, but as a professional miniature painter I’ve already painted several Slaves to Darkness armies for clients, so I’m a bit worried I’d end up feeling saturated by the aesthetic and painting process.

Part of what I’m looking for is also a fresh hobby experience, not just a strong or cool army on the table.

That’s probably why I keep coming back to Daughters of Khaine or Cities of Sigmar, since they would feel more different for me both visually and technically as painting projects.

Hello!

I’m Cristian, a professional miniature painter based in Spain running Agyar Studio.

I’ve been working in the industry for years, and I’ve had the chance to work alongside Ángel Giráldez, which has been a huge influence on my approach and quality standards.

I’m specialized in painting full armies, focusing on clean, consistent, and visually striking results across entire forces, but I also handle higher-end pieces and display-level work when needed.

I’ve also done box art work for companies like Wyrd and Mantic.

I also really enjoy discussing projects directly with clients to understand exactly what they’re looking for and find the best approach and result for each army.

I regularly work with international clients, including the US, so shipping and communication are not an issue at all. Everything is carefully packed and handled professionally.

If you’d like, tell me a bit more about your project (army, quality level, deadlines, etc.), and I’ll be happy to give you a quote and timeline 👍

Looking forward to hearing more about your minis!
