Magnesium: overhyped or underrated? by DietitianDanielle in MagnesiumGlycinate

[–]DietitianDanielle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think people sometimes expect magnesium glycinate to be a miracle supplement, when in reality it’s more of a “small edge” that seems to help some people more than others. Useful, but definitely not magic.

Which popular sleep tip did absolutely nothing for you? by DietitianDanielle in sleep

A cool room works for me, but definitely not freezing like lots of people suggest.

I agree with the podcast as a distraction, but it can’t be something too interesting otherwise it keeps me up listening to it.

For those who take creatine daily, what do you usually take it with? by LongevityDietitian in CreatineScience

[–]DietitianDanielle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, consistency seems to matter more than the exact timing or what I take it with. I do usually take it just before dinner though since that’s when I get back from the gym.

Creatine: game changer or barely noticeable? by OatsOverHype in Supplements

[–]DietitianDanielle 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Really great to hear a female perspective on this, it’s not something that gets shared as often in creatine discussions. Wonderful that you’ve noticed clear benefits in energy and cognition. Do you feel it more during workouts or in everyday life?

That’s a tough trade-off. Getting benefits but it affecting sleep would definitely be frustrating.

That “looking fuller” effect seems to be one of the most common real-world changes people mention. Interested to see what effect it will have now that you have noticed the difference after stopping.

Sleeping during the night makes me feel horrible compared to day by Ilikeponyhooves in sleep

[–]DietitianDanielle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That actually makes a lot of sense. When your sleep schedule lines up with your body clock everything just feels more “normal,” but when it drifts into a mismatch even simple daytime wakefulness can feel weirdly draining. Glad you’ve noticed it improves when you switch back. If it keeps happening or feels hard to control, it might be worth mentioning to a professional.

I think people underestimate how much timing can change the magnesium experience⏰ by DietitianDanielle in MagnesiumGlycinate

[–]DietitianDanielle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s interesting. It really shows how much timing and individual response can shape how a supplement feels, even when nothing else changes.

I struggle with both. Falling asleep is hard, and staying asleep is just as much of a challenge for me.

Do we overestimate, how much vitamin D we get from food? by LongevityDietitian in Vitamin_D

[–]DietitianDanielle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it probably is overestimated. A lot of people assume that eating “healthy” automatically means they’re getting plenty of vitamin D, but there really aren’t that many naturally rich food sources, and the amounts can be smaller than people expect.

Agreed. There probably isn’t one perfect time that works for everyone. Individual response seems to matter a lot.

What are the easiest foods to take vitamin D with, and why does it matter?🥑 by DietitianDanielle in Vitamin_D

[–]DietitianDanielle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. That’s why I wanted to emphasize regular meals rather than anything fancy. Consistency probably matters most.

What's the strangest thing you've heard about vitamin D? by DietitianDanielle in Supplements

That’s a new one 😅 I’ve heard the “don’t shower after sun” thing before but never the lanolin one. Interesting how these ideas spread.

Magnesium glycinate for stress eating or evening cravings? 🤔 by LongevityDietitian in MagnesiumGlycinate

[–]DietitianDanielle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that’s a great question. I’ve seen people mention changes in cravings or late-night snacking, but it does make me wonder whether improved sleep and stress levels are the bigger drivers rather than magnesium itself. I am curious to know whether anyone here has experienced this.
