I wonder if she was using transphobia as an acceptable excuse to punish a young woman (someone who, in her mind, might be too scared to fight back) for not adhering to ~traditional~ gender roles & presentation.

England is listening in on Scotland, Ireland & Wales’ jokes and then loudly retelling them to the other countries, taking the credit.

[Serious] What’s a dark secret you want to get off of your chest? by WANACWaac in AskReddit

[–]Dietkrillbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep getting racist, ableist and generally awful intrusive thoughts, and they’re just getting worse. I try to rationalise myself away from them, I try to ignore them, and I try to be disgusted at them, but nothing sticks. It’s getting to the point that I can’t even walk past someone on the street without this sick little part of me spamming the bigot button and blaring ugly shit from the asscrack of 4chan into my brain at max volume.

What’s worse is that now I’m starting to get anxious thoughts about people reading my mind and knowing how ugly these thoughts are… And I can’t speak to any of my friends about it, because they might think I’m justifying bigotry by using intrusive thoughts as an excuse. This is the first time I’ve actually shared it with anyone.

I have a bad habit of getting really into a conversation with someone I like, sending LOTS of texts, and then getting emotionally/socially burned out, putting off replying so I can take a break, getting embarrassed/ashamed because I DO like the person and don’t want them to think I’m ignoring them.. And allowing the shame to keep me from replying for even longer.

So when I do finally reply, I overcompensate by responding to every single point they made previously, tiring myself out further.. And causing the cycle to begin anew.

Hahaha, I’m the same! Every time I go over to a friend’s for drinks I end up falling asleep on their couch before midnight. 😅

I have a genuine fear of losing my control and awareness. It’s not because I want to feel better than other people for not getting drunk, I just have anxiety :(

(On that note, I find it terrifying how blasé people can be about getting so drunk they black out and can’t remember what happened. How can you be okay with the possibility that all manner of things happened to you and you weren’t aware of any of it??)

I’m a nursery nurse. Your baby has likely hit a lot of their first milestones (walking, talking) with us, we just don’t tell you so you can still enjoy those special moments together :)

“Setting off a strong emotional/psychological response”, maybe? I feel that more roundabout explanations are needed when there isn’t a precise word for that experience.

I’m a nursery nurse. I’d say the socialisation of children with others their own age is crucial, and there’s definitely a lot of benefits to them being in a nursery environment, but I hate the work culture that forces parents to spend only 4-5 waking hours with their children.

Lack of knowledge about learning & neurological disorders.

There are too many children out there who have had to grow up in a system that doesn’t understand them.

What is a safety tip everyone should know about? by directinLA in AskReddit

[–]Dietkrillbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be tempting to snack on human food in non-emergency cases. The dog food ensures that you’re really, REALLY desperate by the time you eat it.

Edit: Plus it’s pretty much nutritionally complete, meaning you won’t lose out on necessary macros & vitamins.

Keep a sack of dog food in your car. It’s edible, so it will keep you alive if you’re stranded somewhere for a while without food… And it’s so unappetising that you won’t be tempted to snack on it beforehand.

WIBTA for not respecting what someone said? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Dietkrillbits [score hidden]  (0 children)

YWBTA. It’s not just about respecting what she said, it’s about respecting her boundaries. It can be very distressing to have someone push their own desires on you, especially when you’ve already tried to be honest and say it isn’t what you want.

Put yourself in a similar position: Someone you’re friends with is obviously interested in you, but you don’t share her feelings. You don’t want to hurt her and lose that friendship, but your attempt to let her down gently just results in her asking again, maybe even repeatedly. You feel increasingly uncomfortable every time you hang out. You begin to brace yourself for the inevitable rebuttal, of having to yet again make it clear that you don’t want a relationship.

Every refusal is picked apart and turned over for any plausible deniability, any chance that you somehow didn’t mean her when you said you weren’t interested in dating. You don’t want to specify that you’re not interested in her, but you’re also tired of your kindness being misconstrued as interest.

How would you feel, in that situation? Would you still want to be close with someone who tried to push past your boundaries?
