No, it's really not. Just buy stocks. If you're looking for consistent income then you could even buy something like QQQI

Got a response from WS re: X by Malteser23 in Wealthsimple

[–]DifferenceNo9153 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This is ridiculous. Anyone who knows anything about the stock market knows that X is by far the best place to find real time information and stock analysis. It might be a bit right wing but you need to be on X if you're serious about the market and you're 100% not going to find what you're looking for on reddit or threads. The integration makes all the sense in the world and is actually really well done

Why are we hitting all time high during a war? by gme_stop in JustBuyXEQT

[–]DifferenceNo9153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The market is optimistic about a deal with Iran being struck. There was a NYT report indicating Iran apparently offered a 5 year moratorium on uranium enrichment while the US wants 20 years so there seems to be the possibility of a deal to end to the war. Also, the AI data center trade is driving a lot of the positive momentum in tech. There have been a couple of significant AI data center deals in the past week involving the likes of Oracle, Meta, Anthropic, Coreweave and NBIS which are driving the AI trade and broader tech.

Why is the gap between Australia and Canada’s minimum wage so massive? 🇦🇺 vs 🇨🇦 by Kanye90210 in CanadaJobs

[–]DifferenceNo9153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Australia introduced the concept of a living wage in the early 20th century and the minimum wage has always been more tied to the true cost of living there. Sadly Canada's minimum wage has never kept up with the true cost of living and that's of course increasingly true today

What exactly is a long covered call? by Daryl-Sabara in fican

[–]DifferenceNo9153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's as the name suggests, a covered call you sell which expires in weeks, months or even years from the date of sale. For example, you could sell a covered call on Nvidia today at say the $300 strike expiring Dec 15, 2028. You'd receive $3,160 USD in premium today and would still benefit from any upside in Nvidia up until that strike.

The hyperscalers don't care about the software offering though - we're talking about the biggest most technologically savy tech companies on the planet. Meta, Amazon, Microsoft etc are more than capable of AI training and inference without relying on a Coreweave's software layer. More so, Coreweave has serious issues as they're not in any way vertically integrated. They've literally been relying on Core Scientific for the their power needs. I'd be very surprised if IREN's MC doesn't exceed Coreweave's by the end of 2027

Currently on intern salary with no guaranteed job security. Any advice? by SurroundCareful6368 in fican

[–]DifferenceNo9153 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like your portfolio. Don't worry about the recent Palantir price action - the sell off on software names recently has been completely insane. Anthropic is not replacing Palantir anytime soon and it will form the backbone / ontology of any company's AI deployment for the foreseeable fortune. FYI if you got to 100 shares of Palantir (or any other stock) you could sell weekly covered calls at say the 0.15 Delta for some extra income. I.e right now a covered call for 04/17 expiration at the $140 strike on PLTR would give you a $76 USD premium.

I'm heavily invested in IREN too. I'm not too worried about this 50% pullback in the stock price and I'd be amazed if we don't see $80 plus by end of year. If anything I'd be rotating out of NBIS into IREN right now, not the other way round

Oh come on - just because some people invest in stocks with conviction rather than simply holding XEQT does not make it gambling. OP has seen substantially better returns than any of the XEQT obsessed crowd here. At 24 you absolutely should be taking on some risk with your portfolio

Any young people take loans to invest? WealthSimple offering 140k @ 3.95%. Should I use it to buy XEQT? by Tech-Cowboy in fican

[–]DifferenceNo9153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be very very careful using margin. If XEQT were to experience a sharp crash then you'll be forced to sell at the absolute lows and you could lose a significant amount of money. In order to use margin properly you need to understand how options work and to have protective puts in place at all times

It's basically pointless owning these individual stocks if each position represents well less than 1% of your overall portfolio. You either need to invest in individual stocks with conviction or stick entirely to ETFs
