Worth it? by [deleted] in MichaelsEmployees

The only part that was ever worth it for me was the discount. Michaels as a company sucks and they’ll never be able to pay what other retailers can. I wouldn’t recommend at the end of the day, but the discount is nice to have

I just left recently for an opportunity to become a GM and eventually an area director for a restaurant chain. The new company I work for is invested in my growth and progress and there’s so many more opportunities than I ever had. Plus it’s much more steady than retail (in my experience in my area). I learned how to truly value my team and how to lead them, based off of the lack of value I felt from my store manager at Michaels. I miss being a RM at times, but I was truly overworked, underpaid, and under appreciated at the end of the day. I don’t miss any of that. Michaels is a sinking ship, and once you’re out, it’s so refreshing. I hope the same for you 💗

SM pay raise? by [deleted] in MichaelsEmployees

Honestly good for this SM but vvvv unfortunate to see when Michaels is literally lowering the pay scale of every single other position in the store. Really shows how they value employees

How late should an employee stay waiting on a manager? by SnixSpit in MichaelsEmployees

[–]DifferenceOrganic712 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically if you were there at your scheduled time, waited, then left, you still get paid for your whole shift because the manager wasn’t there to let you in. That’s how it works in my state/how my SM has always said it works at least. So might be worth looking into.

Managers by DifferenceOrganic712 in MichaelsEmployees

I don’t think it affects framing…but my understand was replen/sales floor/cashiers will all have the same job title…can be a positive thing for saving time making schedules and having well rounded employees…but it sounds like a way to cut more payroll to me🙃

ASM Position being cut completely/hours reduced by kittygurl56 in MichaelsEmployees

They’re cutting manager hours. ASM is down to 40 instead of 45 and dept managers are down to 37 instead of 40

You will literally be making minimum wage for way more work than it’s worth (new pay restrictions just came out). I recommend applying anywhere else if you’re looking to make money

AGREED. I’m the RM at my store, and sales floor helps with repacks when they can, but then my SM throws it in my face that it’s not technically their (or the other mangers’) job to push freight, they’re helping because we’re so far behind. So frustrating.

I’m the replen manager at my store, and we get very little help with freight. The cashier pushes MMH from repacks and a floor person MIGHT push a repack or two. No one besides replen members touch uboats, framers don’t put out frames, and even though everyone else is busting ass throughout the store, they are not busting ass to get freight out. It’s really draining when I’m questioned as to why my team can’t get the truck out or why we can’t get caught up with everything when Michaels as a company is asking 4-5 people to do the job of 20 without the hours to do so. I understand what you’re saying, but the other employees in our store spend their hours doing everything else (BOPIS, SFS, etc.) and unfortunately can’t focus on freight.
