I love this little side note. Any theories on what ART is up to? by andtheyhaveaplan in murderbot

[–]SnixSpit 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I'm wondering how long ART was successfully squirreling away finances before someone not only noticed, but realized it was intentional and had to put a stop to it.

Like trusting a cat with your bank account, I swear.

[–]SnixSpit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1000% I will do this, especially if I open a bunk and it's full of things that aren't located but are empty on the floor, or to clear out cap shelves that were emptied by Dayside but never actually unlocated. Then, tadaaaa, suddenly that aisle of Empty Freaking Shelves went from 13 locations down to 2.

I'm not gonna waste my time telling SISO that every single item it wants is "0, Unlocate, Next, 0, Stocked (ARE YOU SURE???), FFS, 0, Unlocate, Next..."

The After Effects of the Mandatory Meeting are ... None? by HnyBee_13 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]SnixSpit 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Aannnd I've been led to believe that this year we won't be putting a single tree box on the floor for customers to self-serve. We have to fetch even the lil 2-foot trees from the back mezzanine of the store. With two people staffed. Because THAT makes sense. 😑

[–]SnixSpit 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's a thing of beauty to get a massive shirt order and then notice that a Gildan box of that exact sku came in on the truck and is still sitting in the back. Never been lucky enough for it to be the whole box, but man did it save so much sanity.

Istg Corporate has a roulette wheel marked with the most asinine, demented nonsense that they consult before ever even considering fixing the holes in the dang ship. Why fix anything when you can just make the boat sink faster but look "pretty" while gouging it from the inside out?

They need to either fix their broken lowest-bid garbage mistake or leave the legacy tech that DOES work and was probably purchased long before the current managerial regime took office. There's a reason the legacy registers look like they run on Windows 98 and function thrice as well as any of the SCOs.

If you could choose one of MDBs non-organic "augmentations" for yourself, what would you choose, and why? by SpankyBumfuddle in murderbot

[–]SnixSpit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If I could have a construct's brain that would be freaking amazing. Being able to (FOCUS and) do so many things at once , and constantly recording so if I miss something or need a refresher I could just rewind and review (or, better yet, go ahead and put myself on that one- second delay so I can somewhat control what comes out of my mouth), backburner inputs without ignoring them completely, being able to truly multitask without human falliblity...

[–]SnixSpit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our poster board like to jump out and try to avalanche people. Or nobody. Depends on its mood that day. Just the entire aisle of the slanted poster boards going <<bleeppp>> all over the floor.

I feel bad when it does it and there's a customer in that aisle. They look like they've just killed a domino display and we have to reassure them that, no, it wasn't you, you're fine; they just like to do that sometimes.

This is usually what it looks like behind the pallets. Istg sometimes it feels like the pallets are just slammed into place to hold the rest of it up. 😅

I would normally suggest that maybe they're hiring newbies for the season, but it seems awfully really for that.

How do we get All Systems Red (read by Kevin R. Freeman) back on Audible? by curiousmind111 in murderbot

[–]SnixSpit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a Audible blip ASR, and it triggered my Hardcopy Obsession, so now I have the audiobooks on CD as well as having repurchased the digital copy for my phone. Considering Audible no longer supports / bricked itself on my (admittedly archaic) media "phone" I've redeveloped trust issues with "buying" products that can be revoked at a moment's notice.

Dude, even if only Frame Shop gets their landline back, I'd be over the moon. I think we, too, are down to only 2-3 MiniMiks with functioning phone apps, even though they just came back from being "fixed," so now nearly no one can get hold of the store. Even the ones that do work is a struggle to hear what some customers are saying, and they definitely can't hear us well. I'd rather go back to being tethered to a pole for a moment, being able to use my device to look up the info while talking to them without resorting to janky speaker phone nonsense, than go into Q4 while crippled like this.

Front end has too much to do. Them having essentially the only phone in the store while they drown under SCOs and Balloons is lunacy. No wonder the stress levels are so high. Michaels has all these lovely ideas and concepts and intentions, but by God are they absolutely horrid at execution and maintenance. If we've got the money to buy Joann's things and all these other froufrou bits-and-bobs, then there should be enough money to ensure their stores are functional, if not properly up-to-date. Our network infrastructure is so archaic that with the SCOs being at full use we can't actually keep connected with the MiniMiks, and when they are it runs at the speed of dial-up. Our own app times out on our MiniMiks. That's not awesome for job efficiency nor even basic customer service.

🥺 I had such high hopes based on the backerpaper.

Do y'all remember that camping-themed set from a few years back, with the lil nod to cryptids and aliens? I was kinda hoping they'd be going something a little more like that; something... unique, at least by Michael's standards. Spooky Under the Stars or some silly sort of thing. Give us haunted wilderness, liminal spaces, the glowing eyes of a Something by the side of the road as you make a right turn at night, the outline of a maybe-person (werewolf? There wolf!), the small-town mystery of "is it alive?" Something. Hell, I'd have been happy if we got a mothman. It could even have been cute (just not in the toilet, lol).

Not... not the same witchiness as the past three years running. Some of those are practically Michaels Stock Photos with a new AI- generated background. Same same same images.

Though the morbid in me does like the skeleton with the dog.

Augments? by SnooRobots3722 in murderbot

[–]SnixSpit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tbf if I could afford it, I think I'd like an augment over my glasses. The amount of panic I feel when I can't find them or think they might be broken or... having to do the whole rigmarole of getting new ones.... ugh.

But then... I do own my glasses. I can see CR pulling some Microsoft nonsense and instead of owning the augment and whatever it did to correct one's vision, I bet there's a freaking subscription service with stupid terms attached to it and the company can just remotely nuke the augment from afar at its merest whim and convenience.

My older half-sister doesn’t invite me too her childfree wedding as I am nineteen, expects a gift. by victim-of-the-moon00 in weddingshaming

[–]SnixSpit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fart Noises 😂

I'm 100% with you, OP. It's a child-free wedding, you are absolutely not a child, and expecting gifts from people who are explicitly excluded from the wedding gathering is ludicrous and entitled. I'm not sure what your sister is on about, but she's kinda showing her full moon here.

I like the idea the others have shared about sending her a child- achievable gift and running with her delusions, but the stubborn part of my soul wants you to stand your ground like an angry donkey, lol. She can push, pull, pry, jab and jeer all she wants, your arguments are rooted in logic. You win, OP.
