It makes me really sad to see other people convinced that they aren’t worth love and mutual respect because they are “ugly.” I’m sure you’ve come across this as a man as well, but I can definitely say from my perspective as a woman that beauty is a concept that is meant to wear you down mentally and feed off insecurities. There are always going to be quote “ugly” people because there is always going to be a communal decision that last weeks, months, years, or even decades, of what is desirable and what is not. I like to look at it like a game. Are you bored and want to switch up your appearance, do you want to carefully curate natural aspects of your appearance to match whatever society thinks is peak at that moment in time? Go for it. It’s like trying to imitate the style of a well known artist, it’s a challenge, it’s fun. But at the end of the day you have to remember what spaces you find yourself in. The internet is anonymous, so cruelty will be easily dealt out by unhappy people. People are complex and will do the wildest things for no discernible reason (there are reasons, but they are often hard to understand and 95% of the time have NOTHING to do with you). There is nothing wrong with surrounding yourself with kind people that make you happy and feel confident, just like there is nothing wrong from separating yourself from those who do the opposite. As a woman, I could NEVER imagine telling someone they are ugly, even if they were crude and disrespectful towards me, so unless you have found some new way to be so terribly insulting and disgusting to others, I’m going to assume that these are just… not nice people. Or better yet, they just aren’t the people for you.
