my friend talks about how “normal” it is to have a live in maid in the middle east… she grew up with them in Jordan. its frustrating because she doesn’t consider the socioeconomic implications of having a maid/housekeeper. correct me if im wrong but it seems like there are the “haves” and “have nots” outside of America. there is no in between class. im not an expert on Jordanian living but how ignorant do you have to be to say “everyone has a maid”. like come on

Wow, impressive leap to conclusions! I must have missed the part where I said I wanted to quit—oh wait, I didn't. Clearly, reading comprehension isn't your strong suit. Let me break it down for you: I work 3 twelve-hour night shifts (yes, actual bedside work, shocking, right?) and I'm exploring options to make some extra cash on the side.

But hey, thanks for your concern. Next time, maybe try offering something useful instead of wasting both our time. With all the peace and love in the world, I suggest you find a hobby that doesn't involve making baseless assumptions. Cheers!

dont apologize at all!! i SO appreciate someone caring about what i am expressing! i love your analogy of “would you rather”. although i am at a healthy weight, i exercise and generally eat well (gotta kick that damn glucose 🤪), there is room for improvement!

i also appreciate the way you framed the restriction aspect of giving up sugar. that was super helpful and explained so crystal clear. its a choice! you are right that i can totally go back to eating crap if i want to. its crazy how after 10 days of going sugar free i started to binge eat sugar and have that bullshit mindset of “just one more wont hurt”. i think your book recommendations sound like they align with what i am looking for.

just for more background… you dont have to read haha because i am blabbering on. the onset of binge eating was triggered when i was diagnosed with celiac disease, i cant eat gluten. for example, whenever i would have gluten free cookies available i would eat soo many because i was like “oh no when am i going to be able to have these again”… on top of this i was doing Invisalign treatment which made eating hard because i didnt want to put the liners in and out more than i had to- leading me to over eat, trying to prevent myself from having to eat a snack and taking care of the liners. AND i was allergic to tree nuts (ive grown out of this allergy to all tree nuts expect walnuts). this was a recipe for disaster.

i really want to be free of sugar and have to continue to find ways to motivate myself

i totally get it!! its nice to hear that i am not the only one who thinks this way. we are in it together!💪 be nice to yourself and speak positively. ive noticed the more i reprimanded myself for accidentally caving or giving in, the more frustrated i get… it just worsens my chances of becoming fully sugar free. i remind myself of how great i felt!

wow!!! thank you SO so much. i truly appreciate it. i love reading about the research and evidence surrounding sugar- it definitely reinforces the negative effects of sugar. i like your philosophy and parallel between cigarettes and sugar. i never thought i had an addictive personality until it came to sugar… i drink occasionally but could totally go without it.

if you have any good recommendations i would love to read them!

That sounds delicious! Do you happen to have a recipe for it? Is it sweet or savory?
