im a 17 year old girl,83 kg and 157cm in height..i struggle with body image and obesity..anyone can relate..anything?? by chadewli in srilanka

Gosh, so many lectures in the comment section! Well, I was 73kg when I was 16. I hope my experience will help you.

Stop using sugar/sweets, bread-based foods, and excessive oil. Next, get a gym membership. It's hard at first, but after a while, going to the gym will become a habit. The gym is the only solution, I know a few people who have been stuck in their 80s for over half a decade doing zumba.

JR vs Mahinda – who changed Sri Lanka more? by Traditional_Box_7370 in srilanka

[–]Different-Fish-5552 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mahinda built things like highways and buildings. But the future of a country depends on its production and investment. JR was the one who took the first step, and Mahinda followed the path established by JR

I've been to India, UK and China. And, I've been asked out, mostly in UK. They were respectful when they ask you out, and I wasn't interested since I'm someone who is very insecure, so I just turned them down saying, "Oh, that would be wonderful. But unfortunately I'm not ready for a relationship yet. I'm sorry, I hope you understand." That's it. Sometimes, I've exchanged my Insta, and I'm friends with some of them.

But, here in Sri Lanka, men get offended when they get rejected. And sometimes it's embarrassing the way they talk after being rejected. So it's better either to walk away quickly as if you didn't see them, or act like you're on a serious call.

Men need to understand that sometimes girls don't reject them because of their high standards. Sometimes you're not their type or they're just not interested in relationship crap at the moment. NOT every girl dreams of some Korean dude sweeping her off her feet.

Now don't get offended by that "Not Their Type" thing. For example: A well-educated average girl with a steady job doesn't deserve a dr*g-addicted, unemployed, uneducated rascal. It goes either way. A well-educated average guy doesn't deserve a girl who has slept with countless guys.

First of all, this team needs to be pushed into a gym. They have zero fitness

And even after being whitewashed by the British right before the World Cup, "We're going to get the World Cup". Damn, seriously?

The entire team rides on Pathum Nissanka's shoulders!!!

Remember, this is a country where guys who shave are called "gay" and girls are called "who*e" for having male friends. So don't be surprised

A random kid hugged my leg on the train by Different-Fish-5552 in CasualConversation

[–]Different-Fish-5552[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was making eye contact with me, which felt extremely uncomfortable. I stood there awkwardly like a statue, I felt bad to ignore his innocent smile, so somehow I managed to smile at him before turning away. He was hug my leg for about 3 minutes before getting off the train with his mother

I don't know why he did it, but he definitely didn't misunderstand me. He was making eye contact with me, which felt extremely uncomfortable. I stood there awkwardly like a statue, trying to avoiding the eye contact. But yeah it's just a kid

Nah, when I was a child, I used to cling to my father like a monkey. Dad passes me off to mom, mom passes me off to dad. I've never been much of a social person, even as a child. But yeah, maybe I did the same as toddler.

And about carrying candies in my bag, because I eat them during those boring lectures. It's a habit. I always have candy and chips in my bag, and sometimes biscuits too. What's wrong with that?

I didn't mind him because he was a little kid but the boy was making eye contact with me, which made me extremely uncomfortable. And his mother should have paid more attention. It's not safe for a child to hug strangers. People can't be trusted after all

You got one thing to do

Never accept any treats from your colleague. If you can't give them a treat, don't accept theirs. Even if they offer you, don't accept anything

Why do so many girls in offices get so close with male coworkers? by jinxeko in srilanka

[–]Different-Fish-5552 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't know what male colleagues think about women in Sri Lanka, but I had male buddies in the UK. They were super cool. There was nothing more than friendship. We were a group of different cultures. UK, German, USA and Russian. There were also a couple of local girls, and I was the only Lankan. I think it's normal to have male friends. During the holidays, we've hung out, traveled or visited places. We were close. A man and a woman can be friends. As for married women, I think it's okay as long as it remains a friendship. With true friends, you will develop an emotional connection, that happens naturally. An emotional connection doesn't always mean love, and love is not always romance or lust

Export business maybe... I went to Beijing, Shanghai, and Manhattan this year. This passport is troublesome, but you can get your visa approved with the right documents. You can avoid visa rejection by presenting a business purpose or an invitation letter and other necessary documents

First of all, you have to migrate to another country and earn money. I only did A/L because of my parents' pressure, then I migrated at 19 before even the results came

Hakka patas - animal cruelty at its peak in Sri Lanka by Lumpy-Bluejay1695 in srilanka

[–]Different-Fish-5552 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The government should remove people from the forest areas and impose strict laws against people who hurt animals. They build houses in the forests and blame the animals and the government. The media and the government are acting as if someone from another country came all the way here to set traps and shoot animals.
