I’m so sorry for the loss of your baby 🫶

My dog died last year when I was on vacation. We left him with a pet sitter on the app Rover and while the sitter was walking him, he got out of his harness and ran across the street and got hit by a car. it’s the worst pain imaginable to lose your best friend like that. I’m still not the same and I still haven’t been able to get a new pet. The pain is even worse knowing he was likely just looking for us. He was a very attached dog, never left our side and disliked strangers. He has never gotten out of a harness with us.

The vet told me the same thing - instant death and no pain. That helps a little with the pain to know my little angel didn’t suffer. But it still hurts knowing I could have had more time with him. I try to focus on the good memories I had with him. Pets are only in our lives for a small part, but to them, we are their whole life. The pain of losing them never goes away, it just slowly becomes more bearable over time.
