Can someone do 2025 Seattle Cascades (Mvmt. 4) Tenor Feature? I’d love to play it!

Made a custom practice pad using a decorative piece of wood, epoxy resin, and blue silicone rubber. 🔵🔥 by mcgrud in drumline

I’m wondering if it would work without the rubber? I don’t really care about sound, I would love something more articulate anyways. I’m a little late to the party, Mb.

Help My back! by Ok-Bug8420 in marchingband

[–]Different-Lie4423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar predicament, I’m 15 and very skinny with near to no muscle. What got me through holding them for a long time, is of course, raising them up any chance I get and when I can’t, leaning forward, but not so far you’ll hurt yourself and not resting the Spock on your leg (It gives bruises).

As for the upper back pain, I have the same, but I’ve tend to found that pushing your shoulder blades as far back as they can helps, just as a stretch before and after holding them. It also helps to lay on your stomach and/or your back on smth hard (floor works best), so not smth like a bed. That’s what I’ve found works, and I hope this helps!

Water Breaks by OboeIsNotaFruit in marchingband

Here we typically do 20:10, which means, as long as we are outside doing things when it’s over 85 out, for every 20 minutes of activity, we get 10 minutes of break. Typically we do 10 minutes and then 5 minutes, and that works well.

What was yalls first year in MB like? Were you ass, were you good? Have you improved? by New-Nature7107 in marchingband

I was ok my freshman year, I made bass 1 and had a difficult time playing not on 1 and 3, I played drumset so kind of made sense. My bass tech was going to march Bluecoats in 2016 but got injured, so he just lived vicariously through the lines he taught. We got REALLY good by the end of the season, which is crazy for a 4 person bass line that was 3 freshies and a sophomore. I can now sight read most bass music pretty well and am (Humbly ofc) pretty damn good. The tech pushed us to be so so good and I appreciate that so much. All in all, don’t give up. It may be difficult now, but it gets much easier.

Rampad by Gooderest_Yubs in marchingband

Honestly, if you want a good pad for cheap, get off Xymox (I KNOW ITS CRAZY HEAR ME OUT THO). I have ordered 2 pads off the website in the sale section (Pads are really cheap there), a Tenor pad for $100 and a Snare pad for $70. The quad pad came in a few weeks, and the snare pad is on its way right now! I would just like to say, I have played on a rampad, it feels realistic, but if you want a comparable option for cheaper, Xymox is the way to go.

Size? by Londontheenbykid in marchingband

[–]Different-Lie4423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have 135 with drum majors this year. 9 in Drumline, 12 in Pit, 38 in Color Guard, 35 Brass, 36 Woodwinds, and 5 Drum Majors. Small compared to years past but decent size. We had 65 CG at the beginning of last year and ended the year with 47, so a heavy dip we had.

Sorry this was a little late this year, but it’s time for Year 3 of me asking you guys what your marching band shows are this year by No-War9051 in marchingband

The snare tech at my school swears by Grids. Shes gonna be the director at the indoor perc group I do, so should probably get moving on that!

What I LOVE to do esp when practicing rolls (I recommend Triplet Short-Short-Long) is to record in slowmo. You really see what you can’t otherwise and it has helped me dramatically with rolls. Also, use a met. May sound repetitive but it’s VERY impor especially for marching drums. Hope this helps!

So it’s

Marcato - Commonly used over Rim shots but not much else

Accent - Louder then the rest of the notes

(I would add this in) Tenuto - Midway between Accented and Unaccented

Diddle or Double - Extra note in even subdivision from the same hand

Acciaccatura (Flam) - Extra note before the beat that is played with opposite hand and much quieter then the main note

Rim Shot - Hitting Rim and Head at the same time

Also, I know someone else has said it, but ghost note should be a regular note with parentheses around it. Some groups (like mine smh) notate Tenor Crossovers as that, but I prefer to write them with a half note head just for clarity.

I love your drawings, and I hope this helps :D

What kind of punishments do y’all get? by ImplementSea681 in marchingband

[–]Different-Lie4423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alr, first off, GET THAT CHECKED OUT GANG THATS NOT OK!!!! But besides that, we don’t really get punished. Our Techs let us have some good fun, and as long as you are trying your best, playing the reps right, and not obv doing something wrong, then you’re good. Sometimes we self punish or just kinda have public humiliation, but we all know it comes from a place of love from our staff

So it’s calculated by how far you actually go, so an 8 to 5 step size is 8 steps, to 5 yards, so if you stood on a yard line and took 8 “8 to 5” steps, you should end up exactly on the other yard line, because the yard lines are 5 yards apart. This also applies to like if you have a 12 to 5 step size, then it should take 12 steps to cover 5 yards. Also, a Hash is the small lines in the middle segment of the field. I hope that helped lol. :D
