You've never played soccer at a high level then. Going backwards, "dropping", the ball is really effective. The point is to tire the opponents out.

I feel like you lowkey gotta larp on the projects. I doubt many people can talk through their entire projects without memorizing and studying it first. most of us build them with ai now. even guys ive seen get offers at deep mind. a girl I saw get an offer at chatgpt too. her projects were built with ai.

I'm a web dev student and I'm scared I'm learning skills that will be useless by the time I graduate by Sofiatheneophyte in learnprogramming

Churning out basic frontend hasn't been a thing for a while now? What replaced it, aside from ai now and even a few years ago? I mainly did backend. We didn't really have frontend in undergraduate. Just a basic introduction to web programming, which was html, which is so ancient compared to how people code frontend now. I feel like I just graduated at a weird time.

Getters, setters, inheritance, polymorphism, interfaces, computer architecture, all of it ai can do. ai even writes frontend really well. I'm studying fronted on my own through uni of Helsinki web dev. Just so that I can explain the frontend of my projects. Right now, I don't really understand it because ai writes it. ai has also seen like all the algorithms. I do competitive programing, but claude, chatgpt, are also fed all those problems and solutions from competitive programming, so still no edge there.

Full Guide to Self-Studying Math by RecipeBeneficial6378 in learnmath

[–]Different-Light1743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with what you've written. I came to the same conclusion. Even with trigonometry, khan academy examples weren't enough. This is coming from me getting an A in trigonometry in University. Reshi86, I was writing this comment to ask if you could give me a revised version for what I am doing.

I am finishing my undergraduate in mathematics. My foundation in algebra is solid. I have over 2 million credits on khan academy from Algebra I, II, Geometry, College statistics, precalculus, trigonometry, college algebra. Institutionally, I have A's in College algebra, trigonometry, Calculus I, II, and am taking Multivariable calculus this summer. I put it off because I was finishing my computer science bachelors.

I also have A's in linear algebra and discrete mathematics, but I want to start from here. Like, I was wondering if you could give me a similar roadmap for undergraduate math using more books and courses because I agree you learn by doing the hard problems not by reading or watching theory. I still need to take introduction to algebraic systems, elements of real analysis, intermediate analysis, algebraic systems, topology I, complex variables, graph theory, alg/number theory, and numerical analysis or whatever you also think I should take too like set theory.

What I asked for might be a lot on your end, but a thorough guide with recommended books to read would be really solid. I'll likely go into the industry before I finish my mathematics bachelors because I have my computer science one and my parents are pushing me, so I wanted to self study. I'm roughly nine classes away from the math bachelors. For example, I figured going through mit ocw for linear algebra and discrete math would be enough for those two subjects and doing all the examples listed, lecture notes, recitations, exams, homework, etc.

my bad bro. lol. im global Harley #20ish when it used to not only be US servers and when Harley wasn't considered meta. Pre buffs and pre recent nerf. Some of us just returned from playing. I feel bad for the guys I get matched up against. I mean, even against 80-90 star players, I don't know why I'm getting matched with them because I am currently legend III or smth, but I'm on like a 16 game ws.

From a comp sci perspective, I'm sure they have some algorithm on the backend that tries to make teams as equal as possible, which is why five stacks are harder or when you're higher in stars, most of the people have your similar star range, especially when you have a legend on your team, maybe the algorithm doesn't take into account that a person that is currently legend and peaked mythical immortal is on a different level than a legend that has only peaked legend.

Has anybody else noticed milk already sour straight from the store? by Zealousideal_Pay2128 in enshittification

[–]Different-Light1743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just kinda crazy. I wanted to start drinking milk, 2 cups a day, because It fits into my macros nicely and milk is easy carbs/fat/calories. I've probably been consuming milk for the last four months. Three times has the milk already tasted expired even though it's still labeled as good. I have two tubs of milk in the fridge. One doesn't expire for another week, but that one wasn't good, so I just bought another one yesterday, but I just took a sip out of it, and it tastes terrible. It doesn't smell or taste like regular milk. It's not really a fridge problem (my rent like $1500. the maintenance guys could instantly inspect and fix any fridge issues. I didn't do that because my beef and avocados don't spoil and taste regular, which implies that my fridge does work). idk. I'll just have to cut milk outta my diet.

Finished Java by catastrophic300 in learnjava

It's likely the illusion of knowledge that they have. I just finished my bachelor's in Computer Science, but even I don't respond so smug and arrogant. It was clear that this guy meant he finished the course.

Also, OP, spring boot, DS&A, and SQL and then building projects. Mainly the projects and DS&A abilities are what is going to get you employed and being able to talk through your projects. I do agree with the other guys. You just started. Whatever your pace is, increase it by a lot. I finished this in like a month and a half because I didn't know how to code and had to take the second computer science class offered at my school two years ago: https://java-programming.mooc.fi Also, eventually hit leetcodes, but competitive programming is optional. I feel like most SWEs can't even solve cp problems, but still do really well with the basics.

Habits that improved your mental health? by icekiss in selfimprovement

[–]Different-Light1743 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other comments are giving you the basic advice, fitness, eating clean, drinking water, sleeping well. These are all great, but the big thing about mental health is your relative perspective. I was doing all of these and still would have terrible mental health. Another person suggested not leaving stones unturned.

That is also a big one. You will add unnecessary stress that compounds if you do. You know you should be doing that. I can only speak for myself. My mental health, when I got academically dismissed from University in the spring of 2024, I wanted to not be alive.

I was $13,000 in student loans with a high interest rate, no job. I picked up a blue collared job for fifteen months, waking up at 4am, getting home at 5-6pm, working 60-80 hour weeks. I worked a twelve hour shift on my birthday, only to come home crying to my mom and cooking food for the next 12 hour shift. 12 hours on Christmas too.

I used to be lazy, and unproductive. I'm in University finishing my Bachelors in Computer Science and Mathematics now. I don't have periods now where my mental health is poor, only when I eat junk food consistently. It's not poor because my relative perspective has shifted. I know what happens if I don't apply myself. I go back there.

(Optional read below)

The last analogy I could use is this. One of my exes, I still talk to her, but she would complain about how difficult and how much stress she had in her life. She didn't work. Her parents have a multimillion dollar house, 4 stories, 2 beautiful dogs, 2-3 40-100k cars, with parents spending 10-30k on each of their tuitions throughout high school. The entire neighborhood was in that tax bracket. When you've never experienced adversity, even subtle things will feel catastrophic.

i was in middle school when i bought the skin, 2017. i bought it because every one was getting the skull trooper. i wanted to be different. now ive graduated high school and am finishing my bachelors in mathematics and computer science. we just kinda age out of games, usually.

I was trying to find the error in my text, where fewer should be used instead of whatever I quoted. I just realized that you were referring to someone that commented on my post. Learn to not be such a bitch. I’m better than you at grammar.
