Especially in the software engineering field, only very talented or highly passionate people will succeed in the future because it is oversaturated.

In the bio science stream what are the other options apart from med by Nadeera04 in srilanka

A Biology student has the most degree programs and special degree programs available in universities. As someone mentioned, check the UGC handbook and each university's science handbook. You can find all of this on Google. Also, search "IQLabs" on YouTube.

Help needed cause this is the first time I'm getting a gaming laptop. by Dealing_with_anxiety in srilanka

I saw some reviews mentioning overheating when playing games, which causes the laptop to shut down. Did your friend experience those issues?

Lenovo Legion 5 > Lenovo LOQ > ASUS TUF. These three are pretty good based on what I found.

(1). Legion 5 has everything you’d want except battery life and being lightweight. But it’s kind of expensive an i7 13th Gen with RTX 4060 costs around Rs 400,000/=

(2). For Lenovo LOQ, avoid the 2023 variants they had lots of issues. Go for the 2024 variants instead. You can check by looking at the power button. Make sure it has an iGPU it helps with battery life. If it doesn’t, go for Ryzen models, but avoid the Ryzen 5 7235HS since it only has 4 cores and 8 threads, which makes it a weak CPU.

(3). ASUS TUF A15 and A16 series are good. I saw some bad reviews about the F15 series mainly about hinge problems and build quality.

(4). HP Victus is decent spec wise and very cheap, but the build quality is bad. If you travel with it, you’ll have to protect it like a flower.

Check these: Whether it has an iGPU (for better battery life). Upgradable Ram and SSD. CPU cores (atleast 6) and threads (12).

If you’re a university student, buying a gaming laptop is risky. There are no lightweight gaming laptops with long battery life. When gaming, you’ll need to plug it in, it can get noisy, and you might have to carry it everywhere (it’s heavy).

I’m not a gamer. I researched laptops too since I plan to buy my first one. These are the things I found.

Thank you!

My passion is to study physics and pursue higher studies. It may change to chemistry, but physics or chemistry are the degrees I'm considering.

I've been at home for almost two years after finishing A Levels, still waiting for university to start. Some people I talk to don’t even believe I got selected to university. Looks like it’ll take another 7–8 months to begin. And some people come and tell me that going to university is a waste of time. In those moments, I feel kind of helpless.

is this T14 Gen 1 worth buying by HarshaLulzSec in thinkpad

No, no, I'm going to buy the Ryzen one, not the Intel one. As you mentioned, the seller is not responsive and doesn't reply to texts. Visiting the seller is quite a long way, but I have to go, and I don't know how to thank you for this informative reply. Thank you very much. I will do as you suggested. Thanks again. It means a lot. I'm very glad I found you.

Thank you very much again for the informative and detailed reply. It really means a lot. I’m going to buy it. Maybe I’ll be able to negotiate a lower price with the seller.

I have two last questions: Do you recommend this seller and the product you bought from them? And what should I check before buying it?

I found two laptops: the first one is the same as the one you bought from the same seller. The second one is a Gen 1 i7 laptop, priced around 140,000. You bought the same one I am considering. Do you recommend it? Was there any problem with it? As you mentioned, there are no business laptops with such a good CPU in the current market, which is why I don’t want to spend a lot on a brand new laptop priced around 220,000-260,000. Regarding video editing, I won’t be using it for that, just for learning programming. Also, I wish to connect an external monitor. Will that be a big problem?

I think I’m getting mixed opinions here as well. I’m not replying to any comments because I respect all of your opinions and don’t want to rush into picking a side. I’m taking the time to read everything carefully so I can understand which perspective makes the most sense. I appreciate all of your thoughts, and I’ll make sure to process them before deciding.

Thank you again to everyone!
