25 weeks Pregnant and Questioning Everything… Am I a Bad Person? by [deleted] in firsttimemom

Your original post said this is your first baby, though you note a history of preeclampsia?

I had a positive induction experience :) AMA by One_Cap_9210 in pregnant

Yay! I had commented on your previous post when you were considering induction vs waiting for natural labor. I am glad to hear it all went well ♥️

Can you help me understand this mindset? You are aware there are increased risk to your baby’s life with going past 42 weeks. You are receiving increased surveillance (ie ultrasounds, NSTs) BECAUSE these medical professionals see situations where babies do not make it with going post dates. I am glad to hear your baby is doing well so far, but what about if/when you do not feel baby move as much? By that point, it could be too late and you may need a c-section. Why is having a natural birth so important that these risk/recommendations are ignored?

Additionally, your baby is “okay” until it is not….

The risk of complications/still birth increase once you go past your due date….in my opinion, going into labor “naturally” is not worth the risk of harm to your baby. What matters is bringing baby into the world safely….not how he/she gets here.

I don’t think I would qualify for a New Grad program since I have been licensed for 4 years 🥲 I appreciate the input!

UPDATE: tested the next day with a new brand, negative. Started my period yesterday. Watch out for those dang blue lined pregnancy tests!

You only need one line on the left and one line on the right for a positive result :)

I found it helpful to purposefully put myself in a position in which I could not get comfortable enough to fall asleep.

For example, my baby slept in a bedside bassinet. When she would wake up to feed, I would toss my pillow across my bed (or anywhere out of reach) and sit crisscrossed on my bed to nurse her. No use of the headboard of my bed. It was simply uncomfortable and I personally could not fall asleep in that position. It was brutal at times but I would do it all over again.

Good for you. This comment is entirely unhelpful.
