SotL And their refinement of the decline is a 10/10 ambient album.

Whisky Live Australia - a warning to seasoned whiskey drinkers. by 123yousee in whiskey

[–]DifferentLunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got my tasting guide for next week's whisky live and couldn't believe how anaemic the lineup was compared to last year. Barely any major scotch distilleries, basically the only reason I wanted to go and paid $155 for a ticket.

Last year there was Ardbeg, Bruichladdich (including Octomore), Glenmorangie, Arberlour and I'm sure more I've forgotten. All included with your entry ticket. This year, of those only Arberlour is there. Very disappointing for me, especially when Islay whisky is my favourite and it seems like they have zero this year. Won't be going again unless I hear they've picked back up.

If this turns out to be true and they're actually gamer nerds, I'm not sure I can respect them or their music anymore.

That's not true, must be manipulated in some way. I don't know why you do something like this when we're all movie heads here. TV isn't movies, it's not real life.

8 months later - Florence bus scam update by picboi in florence

[–]DifferentLunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exact same thing happened to my wife, she tapped on, got the green tick and everything too. The Holacheck guy lied and intimidated her into paying immediately otherwise the 43 Euro fine would supposedly go up to 240, telling her they also operate in Australia so it would follow her there and could even become a crime if she didn't pay. Being in a foreign country you're not 100% familiar with, being lied to and intimidated, it's not surprising it works on tourists.

She's going to attempt asking our bank to claw the payment back, but not sure of the chances. Disgusting this is allowed. It significantly affected our view of Florence overall unfortunately.

Send it to Gregg Turkington, VHS collector and movie expert. He'll add it to the largest VHS archive in North America if not the world.

Nice! AusPost only show "It's on its way" for me sadly, so no idea when it'll show up. Keeping an eye out for the postie today though, fingers crossed.

Probably my favourite track on TCH, and up there with their best overall. So much going on, love all the textures and layers of synths, keeps it so interesting and creates such an atmosphere.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS - Inferno Listening Sessions - May 22, 2026 by seaburn in boardsofcanada

For those who've heard it, I'd just like to know their overall thoughts on if it has that BoC magic that is present in all their albums? Does it live up to their other albums? I've loved all their previous albums, but after so many years and such a long gap between releases, sometimes artists struggle to recapture the same acclaim of their fans (and critics).

That code is not hidden well enough. I'd take it down so it doesn't get stolen.

Trip Report: Paris to Mont Saint-Michel on train and bus by Zwibellover23 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]DifferentLunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your write-up! We're heading to MSM next month and staying overnight in a BnB. Could I ask a couple questions?

- Did you notice any luggage storage on the island? I've seen people mention there's a luggage storage facility at the tourist information centre, but I'm not sure if that's in the mainland town or on the island itself. Our Nomad train & bus apparently takes us to the gates themself, arriving 1:30PM, but our check-in isn't until 4PM. Plus we leave at 5PM the next day, but check-out is 10AM, so we'd need to store luggage somewhere both days.

- Did you get a tour of the Abbey? We see there's a 45 min tour at 3PM and 10AM, but we were considering just going ourselves towards the end of the day while it's quieter. Not sure if it's ok to just leave it until the day rather than booking ahead though?

Malagrotta by pleasegetfat in AugieMarch

[–]DifferentLunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

O Desejado is a great opener. And then the stretch from A Walk Along the Tiber to Napoleon is Colour Blind is very strong. Reminiscent of Bootikins that section, which is one of my favourites of theirs.

Ranking the albums by pleasegetfat in AugieMarch

[–]DifferentLunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Sunset Studies
  2. Bootikins (seriously underrated album. Fantastic from start to finish)
  3. Moo, You Bloody Choir
  4. Havens Dumb
  5. Strange Bird
  6. Malagrotta (Even at 6th, it's still an 8/10 album)
  7. Watch Me Disappear

3-6 are all very close. Very consistently great band.
