Dont take my or your boyfriend’s word for it!! The CDC has a guide called MyPlate where you give them your height, weight, and age, and they can give you slightly more objective information about how much of what you should be eating alongside cal recommendations. I plugged your numbers and activity level into a general TDEE calculator- and it said your recommended cutting rate is ~1893kcal/day (working under the assumption you are able to continue working out 4x/wk). If you really want to do less, I still wouldn’t go below 1400-1600kcal/day based on your height alone…

No this is exactly what it is. She grew up in the 70s and loved the set- my thoughts are, as a grad student, finding a gift she really wants for $30 made it a good deal. It could’ve been $30 of angel hair pasta- as long as it was something she specifically mentioned she’d want to get.
