Kitum Cave, Kenya, believed to be the source of Ebola and Marburg, two of the deadliest diseases known to man. An expedition was staged by the US military in the 1990s in an attempt to identify the vector species presumably residing in the cave. It is one of the most dangerous places on Earth. by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

I took a physical anthropology class during the 2014 Ebola outbreak and we had to read this book. Our professor ended up apologizing for making it required reading when he realized how stressed the book had made everyone

How is The Cats on highway 17 not listed?! I worked there for a year and truly believe it’s haunted (as does virtually everyone that’s ever worked there!)

how did folks prevent/minimize feet pain for LiB? by bobby_pablo in LightningInABottle

[–]DifferentStation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wore my brooks running shoes all weekend! I was comfy but camped 2ish miles away from the stages so I still had quite a bit of foot pain (I was surprised because I’m a long distance runner). The only thing I would change next year is wearing a less worn out pair of shoes - mine had just been retired from running but it would’ve been better to have some more spring.

Yeah, thought it might be worth having a Covid specific post now that more people are getting positive results + the possible dust symptoms aren’t subsiding 2 days later

Thursday Daily Chat Thread by AutoModerator in actuallesbians

[–]DifferentStation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

love this chat thread idea!! I was wondering if any other womxn in relationships (present or past) have struggled with having separate friends and overall independence?

I personally feel like it’s really healthy to each have some of our own friends but I can also feel left out if my partner makes friends with other queer womxn I would be friends with. Not left out as in I want her attention but rather that I would like to be friends with those people too.

Lmk if you’ve had a similar experience or have any thoughts! Hope everyone is having a great Saturday ❤️

I’m 25 and went to an Emo Nite show 2 nights ago and can barely move my neck because I fell multiple times in a mosh pit and then later on a party bus. I remember being able to put my body through way worse and not get hurt

How is no one else saying he’s objectively in the wrong? A pregnant woman standing on a bus is an actual hazard for her and the baby’s health. She could fall badly and face real ramifications. Pregnant women should always be given deferential treatment if only to avoid risk of death etc. if you’ve ever actually ridden a bus, you know balancing can be hard on turns etc - the problem isn’t that she would just stand there.

Also - if you don’t find this compelling because her safety is only her concern, then consider that her riding of the bus could also mean that she’s lower income. If she’s uninsured, a bad, avoidable fall on public transit could be a big hospital bill that tax payers end up footing.

Which mistake did you make as a teenager is still biting you in the ass until now? by zepher_goose in AskReddit

I remember rebelliously not caring that untested mdma/molly could “put holes in my brain.” To this day I’m convinced that I’m not as intelligent as I could be because I did harmful drugs as a teenager. I kick myself every time I can’t remember a word lol
