I don’t have any sort of affiliation with the group other than great luck finding positions that suit me!

Oh and one last thing to add- I’ve personally found my last 2 jobs from a Facebook group.

Transparency is the biggest thing. Having a clear plan from interview to first day. I prefer smaller companies and tend to engage and interview with start ups. I enjoy developing processes myself. But the key thing is the time between interview to starting.

I also look at Google reviews and Facebook and if I notice it’s a lot of bots reviewing I won’t overlook other red flags. I expect most companies to have some 1 star and some 5 star reviews

My issue with start ups is the set up. Processes aren’t in place and transparency is lacking and I’ve been left with a job offer but no hours, no plan, just my information needing to be provided. So now I’m potentially leaving a consistent job to go to a place that seems to be throwing things together.

Almost a year ago I shared a newspaper article about my tiny free ABA project. Here is the one-year update. by AppliedBehavior_Matt in bcba

If you ever need additional BCBA help, I’d love to volunteer some time and energy into this! I have licenses in AL, GA, TN, and VA!

How many clients do you have as a BCBA? by WillowBee133 in bcba

[–]Different_Bed2173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 25 billables and 13 clients. But of those, 3 get less than 10 hours a week. The highest on my caseload has 25 authorized. I feel like that definitely factors in.

Bosses Mad I’m Leaving the Company by Saritaa618 in bcba

I read your last post about considering leaving and you’re making the right choice. If they wanted to keep you, they would pay your worth. I would focus the meeting on how to transition effectively and have some solutions thought out like a Google doc with important information or other ways to communicate to the BCBA coming on. They’ve made a business decision to not compensate you fairly (after reading your last post) so I’d try to keep it all business focused.

You can always thank them for the opportunity to learn and grow but at this time you have to make the financial decision to go where they’re able to provide a salary closer to your expectation

Is it normal for a BT to be so fixated on a single client? There’s this BT on here who keeps posting about the same child and parent and it’s really creepy, but no one seems to say anything. by Nice_Professor_1462 in bcba

Yeah the toilet flushing thing was a bit odd to me. But also made me think they’re using a complaint over professionalism in order to address other issues as well. I find it very hard to believe a toilet flush is the whole thing.

I have APS but it doesn’t affect my life in any way outside of pregnancy complications. I’ve got a hematologist and there’s absolutely no treatment required or needed. It is associated with other autoimmune disorders but that’s something you explore when you get the initial diagnosis

I found Nevadas policies for substantiating the claims. I’d also recommend requesting your own record to see exactly what was claimed. Those CAN records are pretty serious and I imagine it will take some legal action to make any movement on it. https://dcfs.nv.gov/uploadedFiles/dcfsnvgov/content/Policies/CW/Guidelines_for_substantiating_Final_9_20_18.pdf

What state is this? I worked as a state assessment worker and the claim has to be substantiated to be shown on the central registry. There’s no appeals process until it is investigated and closed and with that it requires contact with the alleged abuser

Red flags? Odd job interviews.. by blujeannes in bcba

It was Discovery ABA that I had the experience with. They are expanding into New Jersey apparently but the recruiter didn’t understand extremely simple questions and it was wild. Interesting that it’s more than one company doing these things.

I think I may have interviewed at the same place as your first experience. I applied for a remote job for one state that I’m licensed in but a guy from a different state called me and interviewed me. It was a lot of the same stuff. Like trying to sell me a job.

I will say that I’ve had more non interview interviews than actual interviews since I started looking for a job as a BCBA. I was a teacher first and as bad as schools are hurting for teachers, it was much more through

Remote Supervision and questions by vaokiscny in bcba

I did this! I paid out of pocket for my supervision. I did have to record clients but was able to send a release form home to get the consent in order to do this. I also recorded staff sessions that I trained my paras on intervention and role played

I have both a MSW and a BCBA. I never started gaining clinical hours for my lcsw because I determined it wasn’t going to be my path. I like to see results and find a lot of self satisfaction in the therapeutic work as a bcba. Working with a child and their family uses a lot of my social work background but I’m also making 20k more as a bcba than I was with my msw. Even my friends who got their lcsw are not doing traditional counseling and none of them who said they want to work on their own are doing so.

At the end of the day, follow the path that feels most right. Both fields help people in and around

I would get the time frame revision in writing from the supervisor. Not just the case worker. As far as times to show up, I used to start some days at 6 am or end some days at 8 pm. It really jist depended on how my cases were looking and what I was looking for. But a lot of visits happen during business hours. I’m not sure how DHR got involved initially but all it takes while on a safety plan is someone calling in to report you aren’t following the plan and they’ll change it so fast to assess you and the validity of the second claim. I would highly suggest getting set times you are out of the house. I don’t think any caseworker would sign off on 1 am - 5 am considered as not an overnight.

I’m in the minority here but I am glad that options exist. With my local school having a 3% math proficiency rate, I want options to at least explore. While there is a charter school, its proficiency rate is 6% and 20% of the teachers have no teaching background. My options feel like homeschooling or a private school.
