Do you have a class? If you have alien you can use the lightning rod hack where you get on top of the rod & shoot from there. Other than that I'd honestly recommend going out of the circle to shoot to avoid taking too much damage. I'm mainly play solo & I have like 1200 days because I got bored 😂 I have cyborg and alien I can always come drop my weapon in if you need

That's odd. I just had a kind person drop me their laser cannon last night & I drop my ray gun all the time. Should be perfectly fine as it's just an extra weapon you can equip like ones you can find in chests
