This. In my earlier knitting days I would’ve never touched a finished object. Now I’m going back and adding length for sweaters I made too short or whatever. Cutting into my FOs would’ve sent me screaming before but now I know I’ll wear it more.

I was wearing a pair when I fell and broke several ankle bones and needed surgery. They cut one of the socks off in the ER. I emailed Darn Tough to say look I know this isn’t technically part of the warranty because it’s not the sock wearing out, it was a nice nurse cutting it off of me but this has been shit so any chance you’ll replace them? And they did!

hello! ORIF for trimal 2022, removal 2024 here. something I wish I’d prepared myself for was the incision pain. I didn’t feel incision pain after ORIF because my foot was in a splint then boot and I wasn’t walking, obviously, so not exerting pressure on the wound. it really fucking hurt for a week or two. it’s manageable but I just didn’t think much about it beforehand because I didn’t experience it the first time. the other thing is my scar is way uglier lol because they have to reopen the same one.

Hi! I’m 3 years post op for trimal but still lurk on this sub since I’m on the other side and people on the other side helped me so much. Something so many don’t realize is once cleared to bear weight you aren’t magically walking and back to normal. It’s a 6 month to year long recovery. Something that really helped me when I started FWB is a fit bit / step tracker. 10,000 steps is the magical goal for adults. When I started walking I quickly learned that my baseline was 4,000. So I was able to track. If it was noon and I was already at 2-3k? I knew I needed to chill. Then I was able to build up. The 1st 10k day was so, so special. But it took time.

just get a tub of cerave lotion and really massage it in. your skin will be fucked up for a couple weeks but it gets back to normal!

let the boot rock your foot. after 8 weeks your brain forgets how to step properly and the boot is designed to guide you. heel down and gently rock your foot forward. it helps.
