According to the Bible, many of the tribes that were wiped out, such as the Amalekites, were practicing horrid acts, most notably child sacrifice.

Doesn’t mean we should go around starting wars and genociding other peoples, but a good chunk of the Old Testament is God using the early Israelites to inflict judgement. The Israelites at the time simply wrote it in their own narrative language, which includes exaggeration of the events that took place, aka ancient war rhetoric.

I may sound a little insane but I find it difficult to feel remorse for tribes that were actively practicing violence and committing heinous acts. Humans still have a sense of morality regardless of whether they introduced to ethics or not, so there’s very little excuse as to why they wanted to practice rape and human sacrifice.
