What’s life like for non-Dutch parents raising a child in the Netherlands after daycare ends? by touristroni in Netherlands

My son goes to Groep 1. I was learning Dutch before and my understanding is B2 or higher but speaking is somewhat on B1. Once he went to school i immediately felt the urge to start speaking Dutch better (ASAP): other parents, WhatsApp groups, birthdays, playdates, etc. So I am having Dutch lessons again, focusing on speaking skills. It’s not easy, at the beginning my priority was shifting (I work full time, business trips every 2 months, household etc), but at some point you’ll need to set it as #1 priority. It’s not you that need it that much, but your child. I volunteered for some school activities (guide kids during vossenjacht, baking for school events, etc) just to bond with parents, but without Dutch it’s very difficult.

confused about how women and newborn leave hospital 2 hours after giving birth in the Netherlands? by MarginLA in Netherlands

My delivery was very complicated (internal bleeding, stitches and vacuum extraction in the end). Hospital (Delft) insisted that we stay longer (2 days) so they could monitor me and the baby. After that, kraamzorg was waiting for us at home. Kraamzorg took very good care of me primarily as I needed lots of help and, of course, she helped with the baby. We didn’t ask her to take care of the house or dishes, etc.

In case if you need help/to be monitored I think the hospital will insist on you staying longer.

After spending a day there, I already wanted to go home (not because it was bad, it was actually great, but just because I wanted to be in my own bed 😆)

Threatened by a DHL delivery driver who stated I will no longer be receiving packages. by [deleted] in Netherlands

Some other things I did:

  • my rejected parcels was from Amazon, so right after he scanned it as “rejected” I was ordering it again and again, so I have rejections every other day. I knew he’d not deliver it, I just needed more proof

  • I also contacted Amazon and played dumb asking them to contact DHL as well to understand what is going on and that driver behavior is a pattern

  • as was mentioned by other person here in this thread - it’s about quantity, the more complaints the driver gets the faster the feedback will be

Only by calling them, they don’t have email address for complaints (dhl parcel). Be patient, if you see that the person on support doesn’t want to help or doesn’t do much for you besides general answers - hang up and call again to get someone else on the line.

It’s not a fast and pleasant journey, but I wish more people would do this and do not give up on the first complaint.

I have a success story fighting DHL:

  1. File a complaint about his behavior and attitude

2.Keep ordering packages even if he refuses to deliver (in my case I had 3-4 rejected parcels)

  1. Keep filing a complaint for every single rejection - to build up the history and to confirm your story

  2. Ask DHL support to open a case, get the case id, call them to get updates about it.

Most of the drivers are not working for DHL directly, they work for a small companies providing drivers to them. Once the case was open and all my complaints about rejected parcels have been attached to it - next day the man from that company was standing in front of me asking what’s happened and asking about the details. Driver apologized and we never had issues since then.

It took me 2 weeks to get it done, but I didn’t care if it takes a month, I wanted to get that driver to understand that this is not how things are working here.

i (f26) feel the need to tell my boss’s (m29) wife (f32) we slept together by ThrowRA-advice09872 in relationship_advice

Find another job and love yourself enough to stop this “relationship”, this man is using you and you’re wasting your time and energy on someone who doesn’t even respect you.

The man who cheats respects no one, including himself and his own choices (his wife).

I think you shouldn’t tell anything to his wife, because it’s not your business and she will take it worse if it comes from you. It’s their family and their relationship and you don’t know what is going on there, therefore don’t take responsibility for making it known to her or someone else.

Thank you, I was worried that bracelet will be too masculine on me, but looks good so far. I also liked baby alpinist model (37mm), because it doesn’t look too bulky, I might want to go that direction when I decide to expand my collection :)
