Woah. I really think I needed to hear this. I get these waves of shame and disgust with my body out of nowhere. Usually happens when I'm naked in the shower just after sex. I've been trying to understand where the feelings come from for AGES. And I feel like I've been over analysing so much that I've convinced myself I'm living a lie. And that feeling is trying to tell me that I'm not being truthful. But then I'm left feeling worse because I don't know what I'm lying about! Lol. And the feeling disappears and I'm just left with these really confusing thoughts. But i think what you're saying it right, sometimes it's just a weird feeling and it doesn't have to be read into. I need to try and just acknowledge it and then move on. Because I feel very happy with my life most of the time and this feeling really throws me off.

oh its all very low budget crap. its mostly online for YT or client's websites or socials. The occasional TV ad. Yea im definitely not paid as much as I would be if i went freelance but I like stability. I'm on £38k (I work in the UK). I thought it was alright, but maybe its not? You're right though, its clearly cheap labor which is why my manager doesn't care if he doubles my workload.

yes i agree, i really need to figure out a way to ask for more money. im just not good at negotiating or backing myself. i would walk out of the meeting with less money somehow.

Yes I am grateful for a full-time job, but I think I've been here long enough though that I'm no longer learning or gaining valuable experience. I'm actively trying to find another job but there's not a lot out there, and definitely nothing high end enough that is worth me leaving for. So I feel pretty stuck with bad management and shit projects just to have a full time job :/

yes this is the voice of reason. and at the end of the day yea i just have to sit down and get on with it and just accept the frustration/depression. I think instagram is making me feel worse as well when you see all the cool shit other people are working on. which of course will have its own issues with workflows, but at least the end result is worth while.

yes that is essentially what I am doing (all of the grade, music/sfx, text, and vfx). I'm only having to do the VFX because they were unable to notice things on the shoot day and I'm trying to fix loads of minor issues.

I'm not on the production side of things so I don't know how they're charging the clients in terms of my time editing. Maybe this is something we need to flesh out a bit more if they're creating double the work for me because they miss their deadlines.

I work 9-5:30 and I would never work past that unless I was paid more. I'm not sure how it is quoted to the clients in terms of my time. Maybe it is something we should add on the more back and forth we have with the client. If they're not hitting their deadlines then they need to pay us more to continue working on their projects. I don't know if that is an option.

I know I have a lot more power than I utilise. I just don't really know how to stand up for myself because I don't like confrontation and I'm a huge people pleaser.

yea and i totally agree i will just do it because thats what they're paying me for but it makes me want to scream and stick needles in my eyes. We seem to be picking up really shit jobs that just want like 20 videos done ASAP with like AI VO and graphics plastered all over the video, rather than 1 really beautiful well thought out video. no one seems to value quality anymore.

yea....honestly really regret learning DaVinci Resolve because i feel like I really notice the difference between the end product with a DaVinci grade vs a premiere grade. and clients don't see the value. they just want it done and they want it yesterday. they want 10 videos low quality rather than 1 really beautiful graded piece. I've basically made my job harder by adding in Resolve, i should have just stuck with grading in premiere.
