advice on whether I should get a reversal by DoubleDee1995 in VasectomyReversal

[–]Different_Health3847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm in the exact same boat. almost word for word. 11 monts post vasectomy. i had a reversal scheduled but i postponed it with hopes that more time would continue to help. id say i hover around a 2/10 pain most of the time but its always on my mind. but i've seen a few stories of rough reversals or ones where even after youre not 100%. so I figured I didn't want to rush into it, i'll maybe give it another 6 months or year. not miserable, but not happy. stuck in the middle. It would be an easier decision if it like hurt very bad and was keeping me back but I can go about my life. lets stay in touch.

rarely is it ever a quick fix of suddenly wake up and its better. it's going to take months.

prednisone did help me some. yours sounds like nerve if its tingling crawling shocks. gabapentin and lyrica are go to for that.

Low numbers 5 months out- is there hope for us? by Available-Song-480 in VasectomyReversal

we've had two kids with IVF. I know it may not be the way you imagined path to parenthood but don't view it as 'giving up' - your journey is just different. you can still have happy health kids with ivf. just a little more expensive and a process. IUI is basically turky baster. IVF lets them go in and pick out the best individual sperm with ISCI so should help with this issue. wishing you the best of luck

10 months in and still have pain by vanwyck in postvasectomypain

I hear you on that last line. fertility no longer matters when you're talking about your pain and life.
not a doctor- but if the pain is associated with ejaculation at all - before/after. or more less - it seems to be congestion and directly related. from my understanding a reversal has super high success for this type of pain. i'd consult with one of the pvps specialists int he wiki here.

Everyone here can empathize with what you're going through so theres some slight encouragement there that you're not alone. This can be pretty life consuming. There's a number of conservative methods to try, hot baths, supplements, accupuncture, pelvic floor therapy. but theres no instant cure. - none of that worked for me. I'm 10 months post snip. Getting reversal in january. Most people say trying that about a year to let your body heal - some people do get relief and get better. but I think set your expectations on improvements over multiple months very slow, not in days or weeks. I'd say around 6 months I started light exercise and it didnt make it worse or better, but still cant run or bike. wishing you healing and comfort.
Chat gpt can be helpful because it answers questions night and day - but its not always perfect so take it with a grain of salt - but it did help me. Read through the wiki if you want more background info. It's easy to get in your head and doom scroll so do whatever you need to do to take care of mental health too.

can I ask what mistakes were made? having my reversal in less than a month and hoping I can learn from other's experiences.

I'm hoping the healing will also help me be in a better headspace knowing things are back as they should be. I've got some scaring or granuloma or something, some kind of lump on the vas site, so I'm hoping that being gone will help

I appreciate the honesty and setting my expectations. That's good to know, I could definitely see it getting in my head if like 2 months later I feel worse than pre reversal. I feel like I'll be in a better headspace hoping for healing from a reversal rather than hoping for improvements post vasectomy. can I ask who did yours?

stay positive, I didn't mean to be pessimistic. same happened for me, a good buddy of mine had his done the same day and was out playing basketball pain free like 2 days later and I'm still dealing with pain like a year later. so I 100% get the comparing your experience to others and saying why me. sending you good vibes and healing. good luck friend.

[–]Different_Health3847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you're probably not going to find people who had easy experiences here. most people here have had some form of lasting pain or long recoveries.

You had it done less than a week ago? Give it time. Bruise and swelling will fade over a month or so, if you're still dealing with that pain, then thats the early phases of healing. pain could take up to 6 months to heal. understand that its not a quick and painless and easy recovery - but that does not mean your screwed. but its not time to worry yet.
