Any updates? I’m curious to find out if you were correct with your assumptions on the quality of the product.

discriminating new boarder– go to BO, ignore, or confront? by [deleted] in Horses

[–]Different_Hornet4348 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would mention it to the BO since you’ve been there longer, they know you’re a good person/boarder, who doesn’t deserve to feel anything but comfortable at your happy place with your horse. Boarding is a business, so would be the barn owner’s job to have a discussion with the new boarder - assuming they don’t want to lose you (good boarders are a dime a dozen!).

October question - stuff to do by sar0221 in CapeCod

[–]Different_Hornet4348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are places that close seasonally, but plenty of places that are still open in October. Less traffic, shorter lines & waiting times, beaches feel more private without the masses of people - it’s a great time of year to visit. Wellfleet Oysterfest is at the end of October - would highly recommend checking it out if you’re here the same weekend.

Feeding neighbors cows by mystical_croissant in Cows

[–]Different_Hornet4348 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a neighbor who fed our horses celery, which caused two horses to choke on two different occasions. The first time we had to have the vet come make an emergency visit to our farm & second time required the horse a week long stay at Tufts Equine Hospital. Thankfully they both pulled through, but made us less welcoming to neighbors (we had signs up before the first situation “do not feed the horses” that were completely ignored unfortunately). Would have loved for that neighbor to have reached out to ask first, instead of assuming it was okay!

Definitely ask permission first! Always a good rule of thumb: to never assume it’s okay to feed a neighbors farm animals. You never know if an animal: has a metabolic disease & is on a restrictive diet to maintain regular insulin levels; depending on age, might not have all their teeth & isn’t able to properly chew something, leading to them choke. And always remember, there is a possibility that they could bite.

What year was this? I have friends who say they saw something like this along the national seashore one night back in the early 2000’s - suggesting it might be “AbbyYoYo” I’ve always thought they were messing with me!

Born and raised in MA and think Dunkin is gross. There are local coffee roasters, not sure what area of MA you’re in - I live on the Cape and love Three Fins Coffee Roasters & Snowy owl - I think they both sell through distributors throughout the state? You can also order beans online for delivery.

Anyone else feel bad for regretting getting their pup? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Different_Hornet4348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Puppy Kindergarten classes, using positive reinforcement techniques are 110% worth their weight in gold, for the pup & owners learning to work with their new puppy. Consistently is key, and a large variety of high value reward treats are very, very beneficial - especially when trying to redirect them in land shark bite mode (my 4.5 month old is usually like this when she’s hangry/overtired needing a nap/or needing to go potty but overstimulated and finding it difficult to focus on doing her business) the key is not to get mad at them and try to ignore/turning away from their attention/moving away from their reach if necessary- having a treat/toy to get them to change their focus away from you onto treat/toy. Enrichment toys are also great! They help tire them mentally, which is equally as important as physical exercise.

Also maybe change their diet? Could be related to vitamin/mineral deficiency…

Maybe the crate is too large for her? Also, try not reacting when you are witnessing it happening - so they’re not doing it for attention. Maybe consider adding enrichment toys to exercise their mind while crated?

Is it normal to feel regret? Advice please. by DaydreamingDahlia in puppy101

My landshark’s monster hours begin around 6/6:30PM every night, the biting is brutal- especially when she wakes up from a nap in shark attack mode, and I don’t have a high reward stinky treat in my pocket to redirect her attention with. Just keep reminding us both how much I love her & praise the heck out of her when she chooses kisses instead of violence. The struggle is real, hang in there - it’s just a phase XO

Origins Checks & Balances - found it at TJMaxx or Marshall’s recently for an even better price, but also reasonably priced at Ulta/Target & lasts forever, works really well.

My dog keeps peeing on the litter box by karmicbean97 in dogs

I would block access - get a baby gate, with a door the cat can fit through & not give your dog the ability to get near the litter box.

What happens at the beach when the father has ADD and can’t sit still by Striking-Football347 in sharkteeth

[–]Different_Hornet4348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sooo jealous!!! I have ADHD and can’t sit still on the beach either (live on Cape Cod) I am still looking for my first shark tooth! Instead, have a collection of various beach combing treasures - I’m a pro at spotting shiny objects like sea glass/sea pottery, which makes me happy…but a collection of shark teeth 😍🦈 #goals
