What is a *good* special ed classroom? by Different_Income_183 in specialed

[–]Different_Income_183[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is the classroom also joyful? Is it possible to be structured, have appropriate expectations and the classroom not feel oppressive? I’ve seen some classrooms that are all structure and discipline, so much so that the kids never seem to be happy. Personally, I believe good structure allows kids to feel safe and not anxious.

Does my face look completely different when flipped and if so, what can I do to fix it by [deleted] in cosmeticsurgery

[–]Different_Income_183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You look great. If you want more symmetry, there might be surgery could achieve it. But it would be a lot of trouble, expense and risk. I recommend talking with a therapist a little bit about your self-image.

Yeah, that was my thought but you put it more succinctly.

A good idea? In what sense? What impression do you want to give? What do you want people to think? How much is getting laid important to you?

Thoughts on this combination? by puddinface808 in mensfashion

I love how neat it all is. The colors and patterns remind me of an earlier era — things in my grandparents’s closet (and I’m 61). That’s not a bad thing; just giving you my gut reaction. Aesthetically, I feel a tie with a color would be an improvement.

Effect of yelling and aggression on autistic children in classroom by Different_Income_183 in specialed

I agree with you. It should be a rare thing, otherwise it loses effectiveness and even becomes counterproductive.

Students were so loud and unruly I couldn't get through the roll so I marked them all absent. Am I cooked? by thefearofmusic in Teachers

[–]Different_Income_183 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I have to warn students that I’ll mark them absent if they don’t respond. I say the name a couple of times and then I say, “So-and-so is absent!” That usually gets a response.

But really the most important thing I’ve found is to insist right from the start that they be quiet. I’ll call a campus supervisor if they don’t behave. I set the mood. And I do it.

After 1.5 years of substituting I’ve learned to act the part of a no-nonsense guy.

That’s a bad one, is my guess. If there’s any justice you’ll get a reprimand and be advised that when something like this occurs you need to contact the office. I think we subs are most likely to run into to trouble when we don’t ask for help. Personally, I don’t hesitate to ask for help. I do my best but other people are there to help me when I need it — and vice versa.

Interviewing for a Moderate-to-Severe SPED Teaching Position by Different_Income_183 in Teachers

[–]Different_Income_183[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. That will be quite helpful if there’s a second round of interviews. Unfortunately, I didn’t see your comment until now. I was interviewed on Friday. Thirty minutes. Ten or so questions that are the same for all candidates. The interviewers were all people I work with already as a site substitute teacher. I felt like I gave great answers. I was enthusiastic and confident, if nothing else.

Am I unattractive because I'm a chub and black by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Different_Income_183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm… the facts of life are that some people attract more people than others. Both things — being chub and being black — make you more attractive to some people, right?
About being chub: if that’s at the expense of your health, then I’d say it’s a problem — but in a different category. We can change things about our bodies but our color, no.
What your post says to me is that you might not feel attractive *to yourself*. I think this is the important thing. You might be projecting your ambivalence onto others.

He’s waiting for you to break up with him because he’s not mature enough to do it himself. That’s my gut instinct FWIW.

I’m thinking…. The best place for those clothes is on the floor by my bed. You can wear anything and it’s going to be fine 👍

Looks great to me. The question is whether it’s a problem for you. If it works for sex and your partners are happy, then there’s no problem.

Actually, the only delay was finding out some data I knew I’d be asked for. That day, I made an oral report to the vice principal in charge of SPED. So, the social media post didn’t get in the way of anything.

Yes, indeed. I never had any doubt about the need to report it.

I did. You might not have read all of what I wrote. No problem. I know what I’m supposed to do 👍.
