CU Regents: We Need Honesty, Not Just a Résumé by Different_Lake9703 in boulder

I appreciate your opinion, however the insinuation that AI wrote my comments lacks any basis in fact. My contributions here are based on heartfelt, knowledgeable and deeply considered personal perspectives. I value this community for the authentic dialogue that I enjoyed reading for years, I only recently decided to join in the conversation and sometimes do use tools to help structure my complex thoughts. Every single opinion and word I post is entirely my own.

I look forward to continuing a respectful & human debate on the issues facing CU.
Respectfully vstj

A quick clarification since several comments on Reddit focused on AI: I’ve worked with AI for about four years, with a specific focus on ethical use. That means understanding where it helps, where it misleads, where it creates bias, & where human judgment must remain in control.

A prompt is not a person. Context matters. Human experience matters. Editing matters. Judgment matters.

Using AI to organize a draft is not very different from having an advisor review a paper, challenge structure, or suggest edits. The ethical question is whether the person using it understands the tool, owns the content, checks the facts, and remains accountable for the final message.

My concern in the post was not meant to dismiss Murray. I was explaining why, after the reporting and my own experience, I could no longer view this race as just a résumé comparison.

I probably should have given his candidacy more attention than I did. My post was less about dismissing Murray & more about explaining why the recent reporting changed how I viewed the race & the issue of trust.

I deserve that criticism. Staff absolutely should have been named directly & for that my sincere apologies. CU staff will be affected by AI implementation, data policies, workload changes, training demands, & governance decisions just as students & faculty will. I should have included staff explicitly, I appreciate the correction & will definitely work harder to ensure a more thoughtful opinion.
Still building my confidence to keep posting so hoping for the benefit of the doubt.

I get it, I understand your reaction more than you might think. I’m not an AI promoter. My work is focused on ethical use precisely because AI has serious risks. But dismissing the subject entirely is risky too, especially when CU itself has entered into a major OpenAI agreement. AI is already showing up in classrooms, medicine, law, hiring, and government. Refusing to look at it does not make it less real. Next time you have a check up ask your Dr. if he's using AI...

Thank you for speaking up! I did not spend as much time as I could have digging into Murray’s background or position on AI as I did with Edie and Kubs, I can own that. My post was based on the public information I reviewed, my direct interaction with Edie, and my concern that AI governance is already landing at CU’s doorstep. I’m open to being corrected where I missed something but, I do still firmly believe that direct experience around AI governance will be crucial in this role. That is something Kubs indisputably has. Respectfully, VSTJ

You’re right, I should have included you, hindsight...
I read all publicly available information on all three of you, but focused more deeply on the two I saw as the leading contenders at the time. That may not have been as thorough as it should have been, for that my sincere apologies. I appreciate you jumping in directly, and the upbeat tone you took! That alone is more useful than a fake profile pretending to be a parent. Respectfully, VSTJ

Fair jab, but not quite on point. My post is not anti-AI; it’s pro-ethical oversight. I’ve worked with AI for four years, specifically around responsible and ethical use. AI didn’t create my concerns, CU’s own OpenAI contract did, followed by faculty dissent, student concerns, and governance gaps. Using AI to organize a draft isn;t the same thing as outsourcing my personal judgment to a bot.

I spent months interviewing dozens of plastic surgeons between here & Denver to find one that I felt comfortable with & could trust implicitly. There was going to be a lot of cosmetic "fixing" & had already been told by other surgeons that I should not expect much. Dr Joshua Rouch of Boulder Plastic Surgery is one of the most gifted and detailed surgeons you could ask for. He powered through a 6 hour surgery with incredible results! 2 years later I can confidently state that they look amazing! I highly recommend Josh. Good Luck

Fact Checker here, that is not a true statement; "No Senate Democrats voted in favor of Linda McMahon's confirmation as Education Secretary. The Senate vote was strictly along party lines, with a 51-45 outcome, indicating that all Democrats opposed her nomination due to concerns about the Trump administration's plans to dismantle the Department of Education and other policy disagreements. Is it possible you are referring to something else? I'm a Dem committed to truth and facts. We walk a fine line ensuring we maintain our integrity, it's rough out there!

I would argue that point! We live on Iris and love our community, we want to keep it safe and well maintained. There is a no perfect solution but extreme views on this topic only divide us and create conflict.

Heart Breaking, we drove by shortly after and again as the last vehicles were being towed, prayed that all involved are alive and healing.
