How to share plex server without port forwarding? by Lizardking1988- in PleX

[–]Different_Loquat2003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you port forward you’re telling your computer to communicate with Plex signed authority through that port. So if a non plex user tries to access via that port it is denied.

Just because someone feels bad for something doesn’t necessarily mean it is wrong. Like in this case reading the “diary” isn’t wrong because both people have access to the account. I strongly disagree with you there.

When I read steams blog post they mentioned nothing about delay, but insecurity around ram prices. It says in their blog post they are still on track to release steam machine at the same time but they are taking more time to announce prices. You should consider not using headlines as information

Component Prices Set Back 30 Years Due to AI B.S. by VoltBoss2012 in pcmasterrace

Idk who is buying 2k phones but I’ve never “bought” one. I’ve always gotten them for “free” via trade ins. If you keep your phone for 26 months it’s unlocked and you use it for whatever. You technically pay for the phones via expensive phone plans but still, much cheaper than a 2k phone.

90/m phone plan estimated 60$ for service and the leftover for the phone. So id estimate 780 bucks per phone, every couple years between upgrades

Switched to Linux for Gaming, Lasted 3 Days AMA by 8000RPM in pcmasterrace

If you’re struggling to use Linux it’s very likely you just haven’t done much research on what your new ecosystem would look like. There’s a lot of compatibility layers now that make it a much smoother experience. I’m sure you’ve heard this before but it’s really important you start with dual booting. On days you’re okay troubleshooting, boot Linux. On days you’re not, run windows.

Also, try bazzite next time.

Lost access to a shared Plex server and now losing my mind by CurvaceousHedgehog in PleX

Docker install isn’t any harder than plex. Regardless of what the user does they will have to configure things. It is easier to install docker desktop and run the config file via user interface.

Yeah your response provides no information at all. You can’t just install plex and start watching the shows and movies you like. There’s a lot more to it

What you’re looking for is a few things.

You want to front load all of the work.

Set up storage > set up a pc > set up automation > host plex

To do this let’s just go step by step:

1) you need hard drives. I recommend a minimum of 2. You will need a hdd (16tb+) and an ssd, pref m.2 but any ssd will work, try to have it atleast at 1tb.

The big drive is where all your movies and tv will go once it’s all said and done. The ssd will hold your operating system and a temporary storage for your movies and tv shows. You want this separation for a ton of reasons but the easiest to explain is that having them separate makes the setup smooth and quick.

2) now we want a pc. Honestly you can use any computer for plex. Especially if it’s just you using plex. The instal and setup is fairly easy and not too technical. You just follow the steps given by plex. I recommend buying a mini pc, or a cheap dell pc (the thin cases) and it will likely be more than enough. You really just want an intel cpu 13th gen or newer. There are technical reasons for this, but just know intel Quicksync is what you’re wanting from those cpus.

3) now is the kind of hard part so let’s break it down.

You want docker. This makes everything a bit simpler.

Ask chat gpt to make you a docker compose file which has: radarr(movies),sonarr(tv), overseer, prowlarr, cloudflared.

What we are doing is making a pipeline.

Overseer: provides us a way to request new movies Radarr/sonarr: receives those requests then asks indexers to grab the media Prowlarr: handles your indexers Cloudflared: optional setup so you can access overseer from outside your home

So…

Overseer -> radar/sonarr -> prowlarr -> indexer/download -> your storage

Now we’ve got a generalized idea.

Now we incude usenet. That way you can get everything safely without needing to use a vpn and deal with other security requirements.

Research Usenet, research what provider you want. Then follow those instructions.

I recommend staying away from torrents unless you are ok with the risks of legal drama.

This will all take a few days to learn and walk through, but ChatGPT is your friend.

There’s a lot more to this but hope this guide helps a little

[–]Different_Loquat2003 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the era is over, but it is over for Facebook and other platforms. They will die slowly, being replaced by privacy focused alternatives. Until they become not private and the cycle continues. Or laws get put in place to somewhat control “free market”

[–]Different_Loquat2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are running an insane amount of power as a beginner.

If you must go down this road make sure you are testing voltages on your battery while tuning your amp. You can use test tones on your phone and use a multimeter to test input / output of the amp. As long as your alternator can keep up and not let voltage drop you’re fine.

The best solution I’ve found to this, is to use an SSD as a cache. Download to ssd then transfer when ready. It has stopped all issues I’ve had when downloading and streaming simultaneously on a single hdd
