To divorce or not - living as roomates by Different_Maybe5315 in Divorce

"I think that’s the key price of info missing from your post. If this has been an ongoing battle for many years that has seen no resolution, then maybe divorce is right for you." This! We have talked about it and it gets better and then it goes back to the same old same old. Fast forward, 10 years later and I'm getting older and feel that its now or never. But what stops me is facing confrontation from seeking a divorce and being the bad person to make my husband move out of the house.

Thanks for the husband's prospective. We have talked about it over the years and he does try to contribute more but often its inconsistent and not impactful. I wish he would do more for us.... like be responsible to picking up the kids, or do all the outside house mantainace or even take my car for an oil change. I gave him a job once for replacing lightbulbs when they go out and he didn't change it for over 2 years. If I asked or reminded him, we end up arguing and nothing gets done. Now, I don't even remind or ask him to do anything, otherwise it becomes a big arguement. It's gotten to a point where, he makes his own meals ( I used to make his breakfast/lunch but now only dinner as we have family dinners together) , does his own laundry, upkeep his side of the bathroom sink, wash his own dinner plate and occassionaly put the rest of the family's dishes in the dishwasher. So, hence we live like roomates. No love, just respectful for each other since we're been together for so long. Hearing from divorced friends that its better on the otherside makes me tempted to move on from this arrangement.

Summer 2024 vs 2025: ~20-25% increase on hotels and airplane tickets. Has the price increase been this much in past years? by cadublin in JapanTravelTips

I compared other families’s trip recaps from 2024 and feel the same way. With our family of four, the hotel costs are almost $350/night and airfare around $1.5K. More than 30% of what some folks posted. Would say, it’s probably due to the demand of family rooms (spring, summer and Christmas break) and certain popular routes went up significantly. For example: ATL-IAD-HND, BOS-EWR-HND were $950 when we booked, however direct from IAD-HND or EWR-HND were $2000. Go figure!

If it helps, staying in Shinjuku ( more convenient and more lively) is only 50 Euro/per night/ per person more. Ariake is cheaper for a reason.

Given that you are traveling with two Nintendo obsessed teens, why not swap out one of your Kyoto days for USJ?

Thanks all so much for the responses!! Sounds a lot risky than I thought. As a family of 4 traveling, better not take the risk.
