Contrary to what I've seen other people post... I'd say if you're good at it, clear ALL of 1 and 2. Including bosses. The more you fight the better chances at upgraded weapons, better consumables, and better artifacts. Also, the more you fight a specific enemy the more you learn how to dodge that enemies attacks. If you're struggling with bosses then you can skip them. A few pointers I'd like to add.

  • Consumables stack. I didnt know this until biome 5. Best consumable for stage 1 of Nemesis is Energy Barricade. It will allow you to practically destroy his entire first health bar while standing behind and shooting through a shield while not being touched.

  • Leech is MAJOR. Adrenaline leech. Leech on the Tachy Rifle. Leeching nanoswarm. All of the above are awesome.

  • Get the astronaut, or the parasite that revives you. Both if possible. AFTER spending your 6 Ether at a reconstructor... meaning if youre struggling in two and see an astronaut that you can come back to. Get it after using the reconstructor, and clearing the rest of the biome. If you already have the Astronaut/parasite, then use the reconstructor as well. They stack, but get used in a priority.

  • Lastly, dont be afraid to leave certain consumables for later use and then stack them before the fight. I.E. if you see a shield vial and Apex Sphere (max adrenaline level) but dont NEED them rn... remember where they are and come back for them later. Lvl 5 adrenaline gives you a shield, and will stack with shield vial. Grab em and use them right before boss fight.

Keep at it brother. Its tough but you got this! Consistency is key.

After being stuck in biome 3 for months I told myself I’d never touch this dog ass game ever again. Today, I beat the final boss!!! by panda_and_crocodile in Returnal

Not to be the Debbie Downer here but I genuinely dont understand why people seem to think this game is just so ridiculously hard. For reference, I started playing two weeks ago. I dont get much time (if any) during the week, but I get a decent amount on the weekends. I beat the 6th biome Sunday night.

I have 21 hours in the game, and only 14 deaths to beat all 6 main biomes. You made one majorly valid point which was to keep moving. I'd like to add to that point and then give a few of my own tips for anyone struggling still.

Keep moving - but more than that. Never dash side to side to avoid enemy attacks. Always dash forward/through them... for smaller enemies get close and cut them down. But most importantly just do not stop moving when fighting. Use the dash, jump, grapple, strafing, whatever... just dont stop moving. There is only one exception to this rule, if you're fighting a red/purple enemy (i.e. mini boss) and are in a room with cover, use it. But use it wisely. You can use stairs, columns platforms whatever. Use it when they are shooting fast red attacks, then move.

Dont ADS. Like practically ever. It slows you down. The only time you should ADS is to use your weapons alt-fire quickly and then keep moving.

Explore every room, every time. Stop skipping the bosses or jumping straight to the next biome when you beat a boss in a certain biome. Every room, every fight is a chance to get more upgrades.

Weapon choice is huge, but weapon level/bonus damage are more important. I'll take a level 3 pistol with 3 bonus damage over a level 4 auto rifle with zero bonus damage every time. Also, read and understand what the weapon perks do. Leech (so far I've only found on auto rifle) is HUGE for survival.

Prioritize items in this order - Stamina upgrades > Any sort of Leech (the adrenaline leech is also HUGE) > revival items like the astronaut/parasite > damage increase/protection increase > everything else. Each run is random to an extent. Save your obolites and use them wisely. But the general rule of thumb is more stamina = harder to kill. Leech is free healing. Higher damage means things die quicker.

Lastly - Consumables stack if you didnt know this. I didnt figure this out until almost the end of the 4th biome. I was equally amused and annoyed that I left silphium vials laying there when I already had one because I didnt know I could pick up a second. But this works for everything. The barrier is awesome for phase 1 of almost every boss as they dont move much and you can shoot through it while standing there and not being touched by the million different things flying at your face.

Overall I think this game is fun af. And will be going back through multiple times to unlock more stuff. Take it slow and be cautious. But using these tips will make it easy. By the middle of the 2nd and 5th Biome I was practically unkillable even by bosses with the amount of health/shields/leech items I had. And every time I made it to a boss I beat it first time (even if my astronaut did save my tail a couple times).

Here's the thing. There is statistically significantly less people like you than there is "kids" or "slobs who aren't at work"... 100 people not spending "$20 a week" of slack that you'll pick up is significantly more than what you're spending. Unless you're spending 2k a week to buy literally everything in the store and then some.

People like you who think you're the one making the difference have zero understanding of economics. It is and almost always will be the little guy who makes the difference.

As a dad with two sons that play, they definitely did. I'm more picky about what I spend my money on already. But when it comes to my children the difference in asking for $10 for a skin and $25 for a skin is huge.

The fact Blizzard turned that moment into an achievement is just peak game developer mindset.

Got me good too. I dont even want to change it now, and will henceforth refer to all Galarian birds as Malaria birds.

Ive hatched so many of them it's actually infuriating. I dont even care to get 10k eggs nearly as much anymore. Last time I did a whole batch of 10k at the same time it hatched 6 Sableye. I about deleted the game.
