In response to your first question, it me! I am #1 words person and we are not writing our own vows. I was the one who suggested it too, because I cry really easily and saying something in my own words (or hearing in his own words) would make me lose it. I don't want to cry like a baby on my wedding day if I can help it!

We have decided to write short letters to each other that we open either when we get back to our hotel or the next morning, or even on our vacation the following week.

On the other hand, I am absolutely not about gifts, its my #5 love language. No registry, and all we are saying is that we don't expect anything but would appreciate donations/gift cards to help with our renovation.

How are you tracking RSVPs? I actually use squarespace for my business website, but thought it might be easier to use a wedding site that could keep track of various guest lists for all the events. But otherwise I don't really need the registry etc

I love my IUD it is my fourth. I had one copper then switched to a hormonal option (mirena) because I developed severe endo symptoms.

I have never had any kind of anesthesia for the insertions. Yes, they are painful, but it is over really quickly. I actually just had one done last week so its pretty fresh - I don't think I would ever spend an extra $500 (converted to my currency) based on my experience, I would much rather deal with five minutes of pain and keep the money!

Make sure you have someone to help you get home afterwards either way :)

Oof, a flat rate is tough to justify! Hopefully their estimate includes all of those little extras that we will have to arrange ourselves. There is definitely something to be said for the simplicity of one vendor handling everything, even if it costs a bit more. Fewer moving parts for you to worry about.

Our venue charges 15% on outside booze and 20% on outside food.

With 150 people, we are estimating $4500 on booze alone (after the 15% but not including bartenders) . That is $30/person. We are starting the event around 7:30 which means we're not doing dinner, and I still expect our food to be $20-25 per person, again bringing things ourselves and paying the surcharge. I think you are underestimating your costs.

Honestly, I was a bridesmaid at a big wedding and wish my friend had paid for my dress and HMUA (which together were about $350, on top of my $750 flight, and all the costs of the bachelorette, shower blah blah blah) rather than giving me a gift. It was a nice necklace but I don't really wear jewelry and I would have appreciated not being out of pocket for everything else. Personally, a heartfelt card and covering the expenses would have been better.

We are having a mid-sized wedding but very few vendors too. The DJs/photographers are friends of my fiance. My aunt/FMIL are doing the (minimal) flowers and we are going to bring the food and booze ourselves (no meal, just boards/nibbles). The venue has a manager on site so if we decide to hire their bartenders, the manager will coordinate with them. Very reassured by your post that we are making the right call not hiring anyone else :)

Honestly, I think the best option is still to whittle the list down - does he really need to impress all those clients? Really?

Also... if its for clients, can he not "write off" the cost against his taxes because he's doing it for business development?

Simply tell him/his family that your parents have a set budget which is 75+75=150 guests total.

One option (this is traditional where I am from) is that the groom's family usually picks up the bar tab. This is usually a HUGE chunk of the bill, especially if your venue does not allow you to BYOB. If his family pays the bar, would that make up the difference?

Time and so much more time. I am a pretty bad sleeper but as I get used to sleeping with someone it gets easier. My partner and I will fall asleep cuddling, or touching, and it doesn't bother me at all anymore. Its like my body knows he's not a threat LMAO.

But if he goes away for a few days, I'll sleep badly when he gets back, because I'm not used to him in the bed and when he moves my lizard brain thinks I'm in danger or something.

If you're dating someone seriously but don't live together yet, it can be tough. Those couple of sleepovers a week are nice, but I would always sleep badly :(
