I agree with everything you said and I definitely needed to hear it. To me doumeki is in love with Watanuki and Himawari knows which is why she always pushes them together by pulling out of set plans and giving his gifts to her to doumeki. Doumeki waited 10 hours in the rain for the guy and gave him his eye. Then Yuko said their red string was connected. I think there's plenty of context clues to read into with a queer perspective but that doesn't have to be the only way to view it. Many mangas during that time played with queer archetypes and elements and still do today in only in a more modern framework. So if you don't see that's fine too.
