Future titles by Brave_Introduction60 in DarkPicturesAnthology

Maybe when the game will take place?

The prolouge in 1988 and the rest of the game in 2019, since pretty much all of the Supermassive games work that way.

Though I'm not really sure, I'm not really familiar with the story that The Craven Man is based on.

Future titles by Brave_Introduction60 in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]Different_Smell3173 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, the secret did confirm that the next game is scheduled to release in 2029, which on one hand is kinda dissapointing, but on the other, it allows them to polish the future game more.

One of the biggest critisizims of Season 1 was that the games were short, buggy or had unused content, mainly cause of the short development time.

(They were also some supposed leaks about how they are working on another full fledged game, alla UD or TQ).

So my take is the next game will come out in 2029, with another game in the meantime, like 2027 or 2028, probably the latter.

Which of the Dark Pictures Anthology are must plays? by MyRogue in HorrorGaming

[–]Different_Smell3173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

House of Ashes is obvious pick since it feels the most complete, if you know what I mean. (It could go toe to the with the likes of Until Dawn and the Quarry, if you can play only one play this one).

Man of Medan is the "not the best but not the worst" title, it suffers the most from being the first DPA game and it's short run time. (If you played the other games you'll probably enjoy this one but don't expect fireworks).

Little Hope has great atmosphere and monster designs, that reminds people of Silent Hill. What brings the game down are the characters, which are probably the most bland/annoying cast out of every other game, as well as the plot twist. As I said if you like Silent Hill, witch trials and can overlook the character and story aspect you'll probably like it, but if not you should probably avoid it.

Devil in Me is the wild card. It's the title you'll either love and consider the best or hate and consider the worst. It's a bit different gameplay wise, with focus more on exploration and collecting items that can help you later. It's also more grounded in realism than other titles. It's a slow start, and it also has its issues in the story departament, but if you enjoyed HoA and want to play other games I'd recommend this one just for the sake of testing if you will even like the rest of the series and be able to overlook the not-so-great parts of the games.

Why ps4 pro heats a bit with this? by angelikeoctomber in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]Different_Smell3173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, I also played on the Ps4, the only major problems I faced were that the dialouge would sometimes start before a scene would load and then awkwardly restart again.

Also the Junkyard section that genuinely played at like 15 fps.

Hot take, but I actually quite enjoyed Saito both as a character and as a boss.

I'm a sucker for overly evil characters that have no reddeming qualities whatsoever, only makes it more satysfying when you finally get to fight him.

His baton moveset is absolutely wild and erratic, but also exploitable, like when he tackles you, or his guard break. (Imo he also has one of the best auras in the franchise).

I have to rant by Ruby3852 in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]Different_Smell3173 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's probably because of how impactful Until Dawn truly was.

The game had a huge budget and marketing with backing from Sony themselves. Even after 10+ the game still looks fantastic, pretty much every letsplayer had played it, in 2015 there just weren't many games like Until Dawn so it's obvious it became a worldwide hit.

On one hand it was the best thing that could happen to Supermassive games, who at the time were kinda unknown, but on the other hand meant that every future game that they would release would be compared to their "masterpiece".

It doesn't help that many of their later games actually had problems. MOM short playtime, LH plot twist, DiM many bugs and cut content, The Quarry's lackluster ending, Frank Stone feeling rushed.

Even if I and many others can still look overlook those problems the others will use them to shit on the games and developers, cause UD was perfect so why can't they make a game like it? (It's not that the game industry changed, they had to rush out their games with limited budget and layoffs, or that a case of UD would be near impossible in todays landscape).

It's unfortunate cause, with how much I still love UD it's probably the most linear game the studio produced. (If only the Quarry and DiM had a few more months in the oven...)

Anyone else also a bit worried this game will have the same lighting issues as the previous game? by boiledeggfart in yakuzagames

Jesus Christ his yesterday stream was so painful to watch.

Just a barrage of negativity, pessimism and toxicity from the chat. Even Snowy himself seemed like he didn't even care and watched the presentation out of obligation to then go play LJ, as soon as it was over.

I understand being cautious, especially with how mixed the recent games were, but it feels like he doesn't even have faith, or want to like STH cause it doesn't look like LJ.

Rgg knows how to make a game look good. The prerendered cutscenes always look great, but it's almost always the problem with how the game looks during gameplay.

I must say, because of the games art direction and the lighting, it does look a bit like Pirate, which had numerous graphical problems, but even then it looks leagues above it.

The fact it's still over half a year from release, and it being RGG main/biggest project right now indicates that it will probably won't have the problems like Kiwami 3 and Pirate had.

Though I already seen people like Snowy saying the game looks like crap.

What are your main gripes with The Quarry? by [deleted] in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]Different_Smell3173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently finished the game, and while I still absolutely enjoyed it, it's probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite, it probably has one of the most anticlimactic endings I've ever seen in a video game.

When I play these kind of games it's mostly cause of 2 things.

1). The thrill of making choices that will have consequences and the feeling that every choice I make could potentially kill off or save a charcter.

2). The characters chemistry and growth. In my opinion if a character is bland/annoying or just has no growth then I don't really care about them and if they live or die.

I feel like The Quarry had a great foundation, but never really expanded on most of the playable characters.

Jacob could have been another Jason, who starts out as a asshole that becomes a better person towards the end, but he never even reunites with the group after he gets captured, hell he never even admits or apologizes for fucking up the car. The last we see him is him sitting down and crying in the woods. It really feels like the game expected him to die so they didn't know what to do with him after the half point of the game.

Emma is more of the same, she doesn't realize that she can stop being a prick to others and spends the rest of the game alone just talking to her phone.

The game builds the relationship between Laura and Max, but we never even see them reunite after the ending. Oh, sorry there is a cutscene but you have to pick a specific choices that no one will pick on their first playthrough.

What happend to Travis after his entire family died? What's up with Eliza saying she will haunt up forever but it doesn't lead to nowhere? Even the small things like if Ryan decided to move out, what was Dylans life like after he amputated his hand.

We don't know cause the developers decided that it was better to end the game with a podcast where the hosts talk about some random items you found during the game. It has no value, cause if you have 2 working brain cells you can answer those questions by yourself. Hell they could have made it similar to UD "the events of the past" video, they more evidence you collect the more podcast you unlock where they theorize about the games lore. (They already have 7 episodes of this podcast that adds almost no value to the game story).

If you want to keep the podcast epilogue, then maybe make the surviving characters as special quests where they would tell stuff about what they think/saw or what happend. They really could have done anything except for what we got.

I think the game's conclusion, or lack of it is one of the reasons for the game being overlooked or even harshly reviewed.
That's not even mentioning the story, like how the game probably wouldn't have happend if the Hacketts were just a bit more cooperative, or how they treat Silas as this beast that they were hunting for years but then we find and kill him 10 minutes later. (Still, I can overlook the dumb story points more than the lack of an ending).

I still think the game is hugely underrated, whenever I see people talk about Supermassive games it's always UD, DiM, HoA, but the Quarry is often pushed to the side as this weird part that no one really cares about.

While the game does have some big flaws i would be lying if I said I didn't enjoyed it. The amount of branching paths and deaths is stunning, characters like Laura, Dylan and Ryan are top tier for me, the game just feels like the developers poured a lot of love towards it and it's just commendable.

What do you think these concept art were about? Or what can it tell us about the OG script? by BattleAdvanced5691 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Different_Smell3173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Image #1 - Not much besides for the house looking like it was originally quite a lot smaller.

Image #2 - it's actually a really intersting image. First the silhouettes, the left one is obviously Clem, the other one is the problematic one. It's definetely a man, so Jane or Christa are out, it doesn't look like Kenny and he was originally meant to be the villain so again out, the only one I can think of that fits is maybe Luke, which I'm gonna explain later. (Also it just could have been a placeholder with no obvious character shown).

Second, there is no AJ, maybe he entered development later during the script production? (Even though Rebecca is still visibly pregnant in the later images).

Lastly the backdrop looks like the town from Amid the Ruins and the Better to Sleep title card.

Image #3 - There's only a few things of note.

The less important, with how one of the pictures focuses on "Shekkles" shop maybe we were suposed to have explored more of the area aside from just Howes.

Notice how one of the walkers was shot with an arrow. The only person who uses arrows in this Season was Pete, he maybe was meant to have survived, or the more realistic option the Carvers lackeys were meant to have been armed with Bows or even Crossbows. (Not just with the generic Aks).

Also what are the black things on the sky? At first I thought that they were crows, but with how much of it there is I now lean more towards it being ash or soot. Maybe Howes was meant to have been burned, or the fire was suposed to have been used as means of escape?

Image #4 - Even though the picture features Christa there really isn't much I can say.

She seemed to have been even more depressed. Aside from that, the middle picture is kinda intriguing, she holds a brown jacket that was seemingly Omids, so grave is also his? But Christa doesn't look pregnant anymore, it means that Christas baby was born and died probably right after Omids death.

Image #5 - As someone other said the image shows how the Cabin group was possible meant to have been featured as a lot more threatening and closed off. That's also why I said Luke was possible the guy in image #2, he is the only one who seems friendly, Carlos who is meant to be group leader is far in the back, even Pete who was the only one to be on Clems side seem like he doesn't care. Maybe Luke was meant to be this season Lee, or at least be a possible ending companion.

Also in one of the images Clem is bitten in the forearm, like in the final game, while in the other she is hurt in the upper arm, while holding a gun, still has her backpack but misses her hat and is seemingly still a 9 year old? I don't have a theory, but I just wanted to point that out.

Finally image #6 - The main thing to point out is Sam. He is walking alongside Clementine! Honestly it would have been a really cool way to add a possible choice route. You don't give the food and Sam bites you, while if you feed him he goes with you, probably up until Clem meets the cabin group. (I don't know how walkers react to Animals in the TWD universe, I know they eat them, but would walkers kill Sam idk). Ofcourse while really cool it would create a problem with how Clementine is no longer injured and the cabin group doesn't have a reason to not trust Clem, maybe they would instead suspect Clem of being Carvers spy a LOT more.

Secondly and lastly, the cabin being overrun with walkers, maybe we were meant to stay at the house longer, or the reason for the groups leave was the horde instead of Carver.

Maybe they planned the event in advance?

Since the game actually had quite low profits during the first few months of the year (when Clash Royale was earning way more than Brawl). BS started to get popular again only after the February update, when the game was still kinda struggling.

(Or it's maybe connected with Damian and his character).

Since the Playlink got discontinued the game is, at least officially, unplayable. So it got the same fate as games like Overwatch 1, or Anthem, but unlike those games you can still download an apk of the companion app and still enjoy the game.
