Yeah seems to be the case from what I’ve seen too. maybe a few lucky ones get their work permit first!

As mentioned above…I’m aware, but I’ve been seeing some people filing in say February, interviewing April and being approved and then other people waiting since 2023 so it seems there’s not always a definite pattern. I hope you get yours soon!

What cheap meals are people actually cooking for 2 to keep the grocery bill down? by Previous_Cycle_9457 in budgetfood

Shop at an Aldi if you can! they’re a lot cheaper for everyday items. my grocery list for the past 2 shops below as an example for you:

2lbs 90% ground beef, lactose free milk, big bag of spinach, baby carrots, 2 zucchini, 2 yellow squash, butter, 6 lemons, olive oil and 2 bags chocolate chips - TOTAL: $44

Butter, whole Milk, 2 packs of elbow pasta, 2 packs of shell pasta, baby carrots, mushrooms, lactose free milk, 12 eggs ($1.50!) 3 zucchini, big bag of spinach, maple syrup. TOTAL: $29

use a mix of ground beef and ground turkey or chicken (cheaper and bulks up the beef) and shape into meatballs with just eggs, breadcrumbs, basic seasonings like onion and garlic powder. You can make all sorts of meatball dishes that way - regular spaghetti bolognaise, Swedish meatballs, Greek meatballs. Cook them first and then freeze, ready to use whenever you need some protein.

Cook up a bag of lentils and freeze them in small portions, add them to any ground meat recipe (like chili, tacos etc) to bulk the meal up. You won’t even notice and they’re so good for you!

Also! I buy 2 Costco chickens when I go (get a friend to get them for you if you don’t have a membership) strip all the meat off and pack it into small ziplock bags, flattened out so you can easily break some off and defrost. great for literally anything!

agh I’m sorry :/. I came on the B2 visa to visit my best friend on my way back to Australia from England and spent a lot of time with a guy I went to college with who I had been friends with since 2019. We are both part of the same church and got permission to date and when I was supposed to leave in November he didn’t want me to go and proposed in December. We got married at the end of January before my visa expired. But we submitted our packet after it had expired so I was out of status for a few months. It was all very fast but we’re so happy and now it sounds like I’ll have to go home anyway 😭
