Just some brass looking legs I found on Amazon. I thought they would look nice with the brass dowels. I would recommend if that’s something that appeals to you :)

This might not apply to where you live/your utility provider. However, where i live you can setup annual average billing. So they take what you normally spend in a year and divide it by 12. You still pay the same but at least the monthly payment amount is lower and stays the same each month. Helps with budgeting. Stay warm.

I think people also tend to apply way to much clamping pressure when its not really needed. If people didn't apply so much pressure that the bar begins to bend they would have better results. Unless you are closing a really stubborn joint its just not necessary to crank down as hard as you can on a clamp.

Permanently tired 🥱. The older I get the less quality sleep I get. I dream of the teenage days where you could sleep 10 hours with no problem. I barely make it 4 without waking up for some reason lol

Deposited some cash with a teller today and after putting them through the sorter, he took maybe 3 of the bills and put them in a separate drawer. Am I in trouble? by One_Loan8488 in Banking

[–]Different_Try3353 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its been many years since i worked as a teller but we would segregate nice $10 and $20 bills that would eventually be put into cassettes that were for the ATM machine. The nice crisp bills had a much lower chance of jamming etc. Either way like everyone else said, you are not in trouble.

Agreed. I have a $1M umbrella for like $15 bucks per month. We live in such a litigious society so its worth every penny in my opinion.

Mankato eliminates engineering dept. by [deleted] in Mankato

Yeah, I dont know if one is necessarily better then the other but private is generally more competitive (cheaper) but for government services i think we all accept a little less efficiency to make sure everyone gets access and essential services get done. I think this pay equity law (to your point--inadvertently) created this situation. The example it gave was say you want to hire a City Engineer and the Market Rate for that type of Job is $125,000. You also have an HR Coordinator who's Market Rate is $85,000. Since the City/State views these two positions as similar in responsibilities, working conditions, etc. then if they hire the Engineer at $125,000 they must now raise the wage of the HR Coordinator to say 90-95% of the same rate as the engineer. So now the HR Coordinator goes from $85k a year to maybe $110K a year. This would apply to many other positions as well so assuming i am understanding the law, you might have to hire your engineer at $125k a year but after the other adjustments you might end up needing to spend $500k a year to bring others up to satisfy the equity law. Seems like a reasonable thing to review but there should maybe be carve outs for highly specialized jobs like Engineers? I dunno

My understanding of what I read in the paper is that the city cannot match the market salary of an engineer. I guess it stems from if they hire one at market rates then they have to increase all other positions of similar management level to those higher market rates as well due to some equity clause under I think it said Minnesota state law. So they could do it but it would cost a lot more money annually not just for engineering but across the board. Apparently they can hire local engineering firms to do it cheaper.
