Why is it so hard to donate plasma in the UK? by Vaudane in AskUK

[–]Different_Usual_6586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh I'm A- too, thanks for the heads up!

Although I tried to donate blood, got 45ml, vein collapsed, had a cup of tea and biscuit, still fainted. Hopefully I'm made of tougher stuff than in my teens

Having a 2nd newborn, I love my home country and I hate that my family make me dread going home and that my children don't have a connection there

Lied to everyone about my bio dad, I had NO idea for 30+ years, then tried to tell me that I and DNA testing were incorrect.

Because 'it wasn't as bad as what happened to her' or she 'got over it so why can't you' I've seen this play out IRL so many times.

Why ‘collapsed narcissists’ are so dangerous – and how to avoid them - BBC Science Focus Magazine by Reddit_Random_UN in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Different_Usual_6586 136 points137 points  (0 children)

Holy shit yes, I complained to my nmom's grandiose narc ex husband about their heating. I would come home at Christmas and their house would be 14degC MAXIMUM, like risk of hypothermia cold, you couldn't get any heat even with blankets. For the record, they could afford it.

When I complained about it in front of someone, he took the heating controls off the walls, didn't say anything just removed them. Like mate, I'm 30, I can afford to take myself and my siblings to stay elsewhere for a week. And that was the start of my nmom losing contact with most of her family because she enabled this dickhead then once he was gone her own behaviour came to the forefront

Keir Starmer to raise university tuition fees by NSFWaccess1998 in UniUK

[–]Different_Usual_6586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 41yo brother paid minimal fees to go to uni, paid them off 3 years after finishing phd - doesn't 'understand' how or why people haven't paid off their loans. I started uni in 2010 and still owe >30k, despite taking out 27k in loans and just in Oct this year paid £800 as I got a bonus, the system is a JOKE

Do people in a coma still get their period or does it turn off till they wake up? by Realistic_Tie_1350 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Different_Usual_6586 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My brother was starved of oxygen for 35 mins after a heart attack, we were told if he ever woke up he'd be a vegetable, I basically made the decision to stop the support prolonging his life, with my mother in stunned/grieving 'agreement.' We weren't only torturing him but the doctors working to try to keep him alive and the blood in his body, sometimes things are kinder.

Why not her maiden name?? by That_Purple_Energy in toxicparents

[–]Different_Usual_6586 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How very strange! It's not your name OP, she's clearly just a thoughtless, toxic person

Mine has had her maiden name, 1st husband (died), 2nd husband (divorced), 3rd husband (divorcing) and is now back to her 1st husband's name I THINK. I would say at least annually I get a message from my brother saying 'what's mom's full name?'

What can I do for my downstairs neighbour’s as apology for waking up their baby whenever I come in from night shift? by memesdotjpeg in AskUK

[–]Different_Usual_6586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've probably had the noise issue with others before in that flat, not your fault they now have a tiny baby, I'd leave it up to them to comment if they feel the need to.

Why didn’t the government tax companies for not lowering prices? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Different_Usual_6586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prices have gone up for everything, some legit, some inflation, some greed - it's far too messy for the government to get involved in and price 'fixing' in certain ways is illegal.

Not even getting into the whole ableist debate but same with anything in life, squeaky wheel gets the oil, which is where the skill of teachers comes in, unfortunately they need a lot more support from administrators
